Reminds me of something that happened back in HS.
Two seniors, best friends since kids, are at a Xmas party at teen number two’s house (folks were gone for weekend). Teen One finds .357 on top of fridge while grabbing another beer. Goes into living room with it and asks Teen Two ( homeowners son) if it’s real. Teen Two tells him it’s his Dad’s, but it’s always empty. Teen One doesn’t check , points it as his best friend (Teen Two, who is sitting on couch between two female classmates) and hollers “ Well that’s a good thing or else you’d be dead”, as he pulls the trigger.
What Teen Two didn’t know is his Dad had gone to the range earlier in the day and got called away on an emergency. Had failed to unload gun before leaving range.
So Teen One blows Teen Two’s brains out, all over the couch and the two girls sitting next to him.

I do not mean to speak any ill will of the dead, but Teen One went on to become a rather well-known comedian who was frequently a guest on the “John Boy and Billy Show”.
He passed a few years ago himself.
RIP

It should be taught in school.

The NRA tried to get their Eddie Eagle program into the schools years ago and a political party raised holy hell. All demographics could learn gun safety but one in particular absolutely needs some help.

There’s no reason why we shouldn’t be able to do it here in Louisiana. I believe Texas is/has worked on some legislation to get some more information taught in schools recently.

A suspect has been arrested in this shooting.

Kendrick Alexander, Jr., 19, of Breaux Bridge, was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center on a charge of aggravated battery in connection with the shooting that left Kole Hebert, 18, also of Breaux Bridge, with life-threatening injuries.

According to Sheriff Breaux, deputies learned that Alexander and Hebert were "handling a firearm when Alexander pointed the gun at the victim, and the firearm discharged, striking the victim."

Let's be honest, the firearm did not discharge, the trigger was pulled by an adult that deserves every punishment coming his way.

19 isn’t an adult by any stretch of the imagination, kids sometimes to shite that’s life altering. Alcohol/Youth/Bad decisions will follow many times. I spent my youth dodging Darwin and sometimes still do at 58.

I somewhat agree. Kids these days don’t mature as early as they used to due to lack of responsibility. As such, the age to vote should be raised to at least 21.

Not really a struggle I’m being told

There was a single witness outside of the kid with his finger on the trigger that corroborates this

The Kole kid told the boy holding the pistol that the gun was fake. The boy pointed it at Kole, and Kole grabbed the pistol with it pointed at himself and either intentionally or unintentionally racked a round in the chamber while the trigger was pulled

Hearing that the boy charged has been released from jail. Also that he’s mentally challenged (Special Ed)

Terrible story, but not very smart to leave a revolver around with someone that doesn't know how to very easily see that its loaded or unloaded.
