Anyone ever fixed up an old Bronco to make it a hunting truck?

TLDR, I got a steal on a beast 1985 Bronco and it needs a little love but should be good to use as a hunting rig. The four wheel drive works and the winch on front is solid. At the end of the day, it is a 35 almost 36 year old truck, and it does have some work to be done.
Anyone ever done this? I need a new project and this is it.

My Grandfather had one, light blue color it was. Loved that vehicle but I was too young to get it. Don’t see what would need to be done to it if everything is sound and operational.
Edit: Had one, not has. That was 30+ years ago

If nothing else you can put it in your backyard. Set up a fan to blow in the window and drink beer in it while listening to classic rock after work.

My uncle kept an old K5 Blazer for his hunting and fishing truck. It was bare bones, jacked up on 38.5 inch mud tires, with a good working 4x4 and a massive winch on the front. He had his car from his job, and an old pickup that was my grandfather's for other driving, but the Blazer was a beast. He was either hauling a Honda 4-wheeler on a tilt bed trailer, or his bass boat. The hunting lease he was a member of also had a few somewhat stocked ponds, and it got used year-round by all the members. He took me out there a good bit as a child. Fun times.

You get it.
When I called the old man that had this rig to inquire about buying it, he said “it’ll pull Christ off the cross.” Sold.

I wish I could have found one around that year that was not totally destroyed---I have a 1995 bronco. It's still old but I guess "newer" as I think they quit making them in 95 or 96 until recently.
Really fun hunting truck--most of the essential stuff works and I put a decent stereo and speakers in it. We have a parcel of property in swamp that is a decent little ride from camp. Great for loading up 3-4 people for a country cruise.

I use to have one of the original Broncos. I've never owned one of the 2nd body style ones. Have owned a handful of the 80s Ford trucks though.
What kind of problems do you think it might have? What engine and transmission does it have? Hopefully it's the straight shift with the dog gear. The automatics didn't hold up very well for me.

Well I tried to drive it back from Mississippi to Nola and it just kind of lost power and died shortly during that drive. It had been sitting up a long time because the man only used it to drop boats in the water to work on them.
I’m thinking a good mechanic should come give it a once Over. It’s an old 351 Cleveland straight shift. The potential with this truck is nice, but I’m looking at some new parts and such without a doubt.

I'll buy it.
I need to drink a beer in it and listen to Whipping Post before I sell it.
FTR, I got it for less than 4K.

Fuel related most likely.

yeah, sounds like a fuel filter or pump, but I had problems with the crazy arse ignition systems on those a couple of times too, shortages mostly that would cause them to die going down the road, too much wiring on those. GM's HEI system is so much better. Converting is the way to go.

Change wires and plugs, drain fuel system replace with new non ethanol fuel. Check all wiring for shorts.

all the above and a can of seafoam in carb.
What's it got for tires?

Is that the bronco with the deer stand mounted on it?

We had one back in the 80's, it was jacked up with big arse tires and a beast but you couldn't keep a U joint in it.

For what those old Broncos are going for now, that brute would be a garage queen and not a hunting truck.
