Hiking the AT is only a dream for the near future but I’m hooked on watching YouTube videos of people attempting it. This year, my favorite so far is JayWandersOut. The guy is relatively young but has a disease where large cysts grow on his kidneys. He has only mentioned it in one AT video and you’d never know because he always has a great attitude. HeardHiker has been good too.

The snow storms in the Smokeys that made several people quit last year haven’t materialized yet.

KyleHatesHiking is going to attempt the PCT in a couple of months. That should be good for a laugh or two.

Didn’t want to edit but I was also enjoying KNAOutdoors’ videos. She is experienced and was doing well physically but she quit the hike in today’s video. The loneliness and homesickness got to her after 400 miles. She was hiking alone and I guess your mind has a lot of time during the day to wander.

We watched a lady from Arkansas on youtube last year. She posted some really good videos. Shes doing PCT this year. Kelly Hays Hikes was the channel. I had no idea how pretty the Northeast section of the trail was until watching her stuff.

My brother in law just finished up the PCT about 6 months ago, I'd love to be able to do something like that one day.

At that point you might as well knock out the at for the triple crown.

But I’m with you, the PCT and CDT interest me more.

I thru hiked in 09 and hope to do it again after I retire. For anyone interested I just wanted to say you don’t have to hike the entire trail or spend 6 months to get the benefits of spending time outdoors. If you can get away for a month it is definitely worth the experience. It was life changing for me and something I’m extremely grateful for.

No time for that. But the AT is something I want to do the first or second year after retirement. Staying fit and praying for continued good health so I can do stuff like that when I'm 60+.
