Anybody Daily Drive an FJ60 or Similar?

My 2005 F150 is starting to get kind of iffy. I've been causally checking craigslist the past few days, and thinking about what I'm going to do when my truck dies (or, hopefully, before it dies).
I've always liked older vehicles. I've tossed around the idea of getting an even older, and simpler, F150 and rebuilding the engine and upgrading anything else that needs it. Or, I could just get my current truck fixed. But, I've come across some other options that are intriguing as well - especially an '86 FJ60.
I've owned a few old jeeps and currently own an '86 Jeep CJ7. So, I'm no stranger to the pitfalls of daily driving these old 4x4's. But, I don't know much about the Land Cruisers specifically. Just curious if anyone here has ever used one as a daily driver. I have to think it would be more comfortable and reliable than a jeep CJ.

Land Rovers are about as dependable as your NC stats.

Awesome. But, what about Toyota FJ60's?

Dependable. With the usual crap to watch for. But prepare for biblical fuel bills.
9mpg is good.
You can get a very nice restomod for under 20k.

if you can convince yourself that a 98-2007 100 series is just as cool since they are both 4 door hardtop wagons, you'll be infinitely happier. The jump in tech in that period was amazing.

I drove a 1997 FJ80 daily for many years and my wife's car is in the shop so I've been driving it again daily for the past week. Mainly my cruiser is a weekend driver and I plan on restoring it one day.
I love driving it. The mileage is terrible, but it is a solid vehicle and will never leave you stranded.
As far as an FJ60, I have no experience. Get on Ih8mud.com and do some perusing. There is more than enough information for you there. Parts are becoming scarce, but the cruiser community is strong.
ETA: The 1997 is comfortable, but nowhere near the comfort of my 200
And FWIW, I do not like the way the 100s drive.

good friend just got a mint '88 FJ62
was not cheap
AT ALL.
I'd love to find a early 70s model. My Grandfather had a '72 that I learned to drive with it.

Thanks, guys. I'll do some more googling. It's probably not going to happen. This was kind of a bored at work surfing the internet kind of thread. But, I do kind of like the idea.

I’ve pondered the thought of a FJ as well, just don’t want to jump into a money pit.

The 60 was the last American Cruiser with a manual tranny I believe.
