Couple days seen a shrimp boat looking thing with a diver down flag off the bridge.

Part jealous and part curious to see how the water is and what’s to see.

Yeah that's curious. I know they're doing a lot of soil sample work, I talked to a few of them at the lacombe bayou launch a month or so ago.

Could be that.

Some boats have been known to use diver down flags without a any diving activity... its a shite thing to do.

I’ve always heard the lake can be fairly passable diving in the right (but not common) conditions depending on ones comfort level of course. Like when there’s been pretty dead water for a few days.

I've heard spear fishing is common in lake Maurepas as well. Any truth to that? It seems like I've heard of folks doing it for catfish.

The causeway has bridge inspection divers too. May have been them.

Sure. Lots of people free dive the stumps for big blue and tabby cats. Was one of my favorite hobbies few years back.

Friends of mine used to spearfish 51 canal all along Manchac and Ruddock. Had a floating air supply. Big cats in those stumps.

You just have to pay attention to the wind and sometimes rainfall. 2-3 days of a consistent wind, and the leeward side of the lake will be huntable. "Good" visibility is 3-4 feet.

Yes. They spearfish it. Shoot far, sheephead, and freshwater cats. I haven’t dove it in a while, but some days vis can be 5+ feet. You don’t want it too clear because fish spook easier

I used to be a bad mfer with a Hawaiian Sling. I used to go off Malibu or Palos Verdes in California and spear some big ones. My favorite was night scuba diving for spiny lobster around Catalina.

Spicoli was right. All I need are some tasty waves and a cool buzz and I'm fine.

I have a sling in my attic I’ve never gotten around to using. Reminds me I need to bust it out
