How far south? The border was/is hot but a little further north and it can get spotty.

Falfurrias we killed 3 man limits at my ranch by our ponds..Birds were flying really good around 10:30. Got out around 7 and got limits by 9 first day and 10:30 thr next. Could have just waited til 10 and got limits by 10:30.
Went to fix a fence at 11:30 by one pond and damn near could have killed the doves with a tennis racket.
Alice had a ton of birds(lots of white wing) but they were harder to pattern. Big groups but flying high and spread out.
My brother will be there today so might be able to get an update.

Central TX hasn't been bad, but hasn't been good. Just some birds.

I typically hunt in the Hondo area. I also believe they had some flooding in that area a month or so ago, so I hope that didn’t screw things up.

Hunted in Anahuac this weekend and we were covered up in them. Limited out both days. Drove through there yesterday around noon and they were still flying.

I don't really equate Anahuac with South Texas but solid work regardless. We duck hunt there and dove hunting can be really hit or miss. Probably cause most openers get hammered by storms or weather and then everyone forgets doves and gets ready for teal. Were you on private or with an outfitter?

I am very fortunate that one of the oil fields I’m the engineer for is down there and I made friends with the biggest landowner other than what we own. He lets me hunt it after he cuts all those brown top millet fields. I have never duck hunted there but I’m looking forward to this season. I’m from MS and our last few years have been pretty horrible.

My group of 23 was down in Dilley for Labor Day weekend.

6 guys in Dilley.
We each shot our limit every day for three days.
Lots of white wings. Lots of full choke birds too.
We shot a half dozen collard doves as well.

I'm seeing a ton of pictures from the fishing guides out of baffin and port mansfield areas who also guide dove hunts. Looks like they are killing plenty of birds since it opened.

We went with an outfit out of McAllen, TX....about 5 minutes from the border. It was hot AF, but we smoked the birds. Limits for everyone for the 3 day weekend hunt.

An hour south of SA we've been able to go and shoot a limit pretty much any time you want to go since it opened, most of the time within an hour or so. Haven't been all week, headed down tomorrow to see if they are still around, in past years we'd just be getting to opening day this weekend. Ready for a front to push down some big northern birds I know that.

My place is about 20 minutes from the Baffin launch. We used to fish Baffin in the morning and shoot limits of doves in the evening but my brother ended up selling his boat. We have been talking about doing a guided trip once or twice a year during dove season.

Heading to Hondo this weekend, reports have been decent. Some people are limiting but depends on the setup.

We are doing a demo of a station for Williams there. You might be seeing some of our pipe trucks hauling pipe to our demo yard in Corpus. It's all big pipe. 30" mostly. Some of the guys on site went dove hunting on the opener and did well.
