What animal? There's a dozen of these holes, all pretty close together, on the side of a trench.

Chipmunks dig holes like that in the sides of drainages throughout the tunica hills.

These holes are probably 8 inches in diameter, at least the visible part. Will they dig the entrances that wide?

In West Feliciana parish, it’s has a lot to do with the loose soil, lowess or something similar? But chipmunks is all I’ve witnessed using the holes.

We for sure have armadillos around here, this bank is pretty steep, practically vertical, is that something armadillos would choose to dig burrows in?

Armadillo would come near digging in a steep bank than a groundhog. I would say armadillo just going by the numbers.

Set a game camera up and settle it.

Here in East Texas they bore into banks that are four or five feet high. Now if you are talking a 30' bluff, I don't know. Those look similar to the holes I see on the way out of this rural subdivision. I first chose my avatar here because that summer I joined up I caught and mostly killed twenty five armadillos I trapped on my homesite. Lately, I've just left them alone. They are really bad here in East Texas when the summer is scorching hot and dry. We aren't there yet this summer.

TheOcean, your pic isn't showing up for me. Can you post a direct link to the pic instead of embed? It's not showing up on my chromebook or iphone.
