I was at an outdoor show last year and my son really liked a rifle that had a thumb hole stock. So while he was away at college I took his Sauer 202 up to Ethridge Tn (which is not far from where I live). Some of the Amish that live in this area are really good wood workers. I had a piece of Walnut that was from our farm and asked one of the guys if he could make me a rifle stock. I had some pictures of what I wanted and the original stock on the rifle and he said he would give it a try.
Well a few days ago I got a letter in the mail that the stock was ready. So I drove up to check it out. I think it turned out pretty good. Especially the palm swell, it is perfect.

When I showed up at the guys place he had two roll top desk that he had made. One was a special order and the second one he made just for an extra. It was incredible the workmanship that went into that thing. I already have an antique roll top in my office and don’t really have a place for another one but it was tempting just because of how good it looked. It was made out of red oak. I started to take a picture of it but thought he might not appreciate that. He asked me if $1800 was too high for the desk and I told him that sounded fair to me.
When I was driving in I passed a one room school house with kids out front playing stick ball. The boys had on black pants and white shirts and straw hats and the girls had dresses with white bonnets. It was like something out of Little House On the Prarie.
They also sell baked goods, canned items, homemade butter, soaps, and candy.

That is really cool. A gun that your kid will cherish forever. It also looks very good too.

202 is a fantastic gun. I have shot a ton of them. Very accurate and robust.

Nice figure in that wood.

The shape of the stock looks European. Nice.

I am seriously jealous and proud of that American craftsmanship at the same time!

What an heirloom to pass on.

Damn that is nice.

When I was in high school my dad handmade a stock for my hunting rifle. It isn't the prettiest or smoothest stock, certainly not machined, but it is the one rifle that I will never, every part with and has more value in hunting memories than anything else I own.

Absolutely gorgeous woodwork. I sometimes buy their soap just because I respect the work that they do.

How much did he charge?

He probably used a pic that is hosted by a site where the profile is under his real name.

But this isn't the O-T we don't doxx people on the OB.
