if it was me i'd get the 2400
Would love to but I have size constraints as there really isn't a good storage area around me (NOLA) and I need to store at my house. I have a 25L x 10W area to park a boat on trailer.

Go fully welded, no rivets, period!

The Blazer bay 2170 is a pretty damn bad arse rugged fiberglass rig. Has the rolled gunnels but still all the storage of a liner boat. No other rolled gunnel I know of that is like it.

I don’t have anything to add to the conversation, I’m just here to say those boats look awesome.

My 25 year old flat boat is welded and only had to do slight repairs around the center console gas tank. Was always told to stay away from rivets.

The toughest aluminum boats are made in the PNW such as Hewescraft. Those things are absolute tanks.
Outside of maybe 3 manufacturers in the PNW, the top aluminum brands are about 50-50 split in welded vs riveted. Lund is the standard for deep vee aluminum boats and they are all riveted to provide double strength to the bow.

LA has quite a few talented welders who put out custom aluminum rigs. I think welding has overtaken rivets when it comes to higher level offerings.

I agree that a welded plate hull such as on a Hewes or Thunder Jet is a tank.
But if you're talking "mass produced" aluminum hulls, I would rather have a riveted Lund than a welded Ranger. I've fished the Great Lakes trolling and a true welded plate is the best but those are few and far between.

Casey owns Sportsman Fab. Jason owns Uncle J. Both good guys who build terrific boats. Padded is the way to go.

Looking at a 24x7 or 26x7
What kind of hunting are you going to do out of this big of a boat?
There’s some bad arse rigs out now a days but you may be better off both financially and functionally with 2 boats. Can get a 16-18 ft aluminum boat for $15-20k and a 24 ft fiberglass center console for $30 k. I know boats are expensive now a days but deals are still available in that range.
If you just want a panty dropper, different story.
ETA: also consider spray and winter fishing. Aluminum boats are usually wetter rides due to the inability to flare the hull. Some small ways around that, but winter fishing is almost always better in a fiberglass boat.

Not doing actual hunting in boat, but I use my boat to carry my gear. Pirogues, deer stands (tripod stands), other gear, etc. . Boat needs to be sturdy to for gear and will have dead animals/blood in it on the regular. Will probably get used some for gator season also.
