Anyone know what all is involved in this course? It's only a half day/250 rounds so I'm trying to decide if I should take it or wait for the full carbine course.

I took the intro into pistol and carbine with him. They are really good intro courses and you get a lot of info for just being half day classes. I would take them both then take the full carbine later if you can. If you can only do one then do the full carbine. The full carbine covers everything in the intro and then some.

Bookmarked.

I was looking into taking a course or 2 through Bearco in Covington. Interested to hear the OB's opinion on Advantage.

I took Carbine 1 and 2 with a couple friends (Carson and Gingineer). It was pretty fun and valuable. I would say the thing I learned best was shooting from my support side. We did that a ton.

I'm a bit partial to VATA out of Slidel because I've taken a lot of courses with them but you can't go wrong with Advantage. Bearco is also pretty good but the instructor doesn't have LEO or military experience so it's a different kind of training. Still plenty of good information though.

I will second what Bapple said. I've also taken a bunch of VATA classes, and thoroughly enjoy the shite out of them. In south Louisiana it's hard to compete with what those guys are doing. They just recently had a class with Max Michel as a guest instructor. Advantage is pretty good from what i hear, but not the same caliber as the VATA isntructors.

Good deal. I will probably wait then. I see that VATA has the Intro to carbine/Carbine 1 class bundle coming up the 2nd week of May, so I'll just hit that one instead.

AG is awesome. Took their Carbine I and Carbine 2 with Bap and it was a blast. I'd imagine that that intro course would be a fun refresher course that would be a nice change of pace from just shooting at the range.

definitely recommend.

I took a class there also, taught by Nate. I would definitely recommend any one taught by him.

I'm probably gonna go do the intro to combative pistol course as a refresher. Gonna do gunfighter 1 and 2 once my RMR comes in

Let me know, I'm interested in taking another class. We can convince Bapple.

The intro course is designed to give you a baseline introduction to the skills required to competently manipulate and employ a carbine as a self defense tool. We've found that students who attend the class are able to accomplish more in the Carbine 1 and 2 programs because they have already gained some productive repetitions on skills like safety manipulation, stance, grip, and zeroing. The classes also serve as a low cost in ammo, cash, and time introduction to what we do at Advantage Group. Anyone who comes out will get more than their money's worth.

People don't understand how lucky we are down here. The fact we are just talking about VATA and Advantage Group and not even about the multitude of instructors they bring in is great. We have an embarassment of riches when it comes to southeast Louisiana and weapons training.

Either one will be a great class. Take both of you can.

What kind of setup you gonna run with the RMR? I've been thinking about getting a G19 MOS.

My T2 is finally off backorder on Larue and arrives tomorrow. I may try to make the intro carbine course, although I probably won't be able to zero it before then.

This is definitely true. Every group I've trained with has brought an interesting perspective to the table. Most of the stuff overlaps but there are some nuggets of wisdom to learn from each group.

Even though I'm not a Glock guy, I love my M&P CORE and think you would enjoy shooting a handgun with an optic.

The one downside with the Glock versus an M&P or FN with a milled slide is that it doesn't come with suppressor sights. Then again, everyone who buys a Glock usually swaps the sights out anyway since the factory ones suck.
