In your opinion, does a 9mm have enough stopping power?

Home invaders of the human type. Got a nine, considering an upgrade.

It'll be fine. Thats what most cops use. Get hollow points.

You always hear the people that have .40s on up holler about a 9mm not having enough stopping power.

Well i had a few glock 9mms and loved them. Ammunition was cheaper, recoil was nice. Then one day, i got a bright idea to trade off my 9mm and get a glock 23 and 27, both 40s. Well to be honest, if i could trade them both for equal 9's i would. Just my 2 cents. Maybe if i was a LEO, then i would get something bigger and better.

No one would want to get hit with a 9mm with the right type of round in it. Get a good expanding HP and it will stop most anybody.

9mm are easy to handle...recoil is very manageable on a full size pistol frame, which allows for an accurate first shot and an accurate follow up.

Depends upon the shot.

In the head? yeah

In the toe? probably not

No...most cops are stearing away from 9's. They do not have stopping power.

I suggest a .40 cal, 357 or 45

The only reason most departments went to the 9 or still have them is not for stopping power..(Unless your stopping a lawsuit) Its a liabilty issue is why they use them...not stopping power.

You wouldn't be the first one.

Talk about your head shots etc...
Unless this guy is trained very well, he isn't making a head shot on a intruder running in his house...sorry alot different than thinking your a great shot when shooting paper and no stress.

Have you ever been shot? Of course a 22 to the head will kill someone...but sorry the fact is 9's don't have alot of stopping power.

This guy wants advice on a home protection weapon...get a shotgun.
