I agree with lefty. I own lots of guns and have shot many more. I have everything from .22s to .45. I like the way my glock 19 9mm shoots and handles better than any of my other pistols. I am very proficient with it, so for now, it is in the starting slot for my defensive weapon. Stopping power wont matter much if you arent accurate with a .45.

It's a relative question. Will it kill somebody that's not shot right? Maybe later when they pump out but by then it won't matter to you because you're dead. So hit them right and keep hitting till the threat is gone. Same as any other bullet.
The FBI were the one's that started this whole questioning of the 9mm after the Platt and Maddox shootout in Miami. They had agents die because they had two guy who were dead set on shooting their way to freedom and they didn't put the bullets in the pumper or the brainpan to anchor them so they absorbed a lot of 9mm and .38 before they finally succumbed. FBI, based on that firefight and the shots that were fired in it determined that a larger/faster bullet would have performed better and possibly saved lives.
Which is another way of saying they didn't hit the targets right. So they went to the 10mm then the .40 I think.
So if you've got a 9mm, I'd recommend keeping it and investing in a lot of ammo. Because shooting the gun enough to actually hit what you're aiming at is going to be a lot more likely to anchor a bad guy than some false sense of security from a big hole in the end of the pistol.

Thats what most cops use. Get hollow points.
FALSE statement! Most are using .40 cal now or even .45cal. Servicemen are using .40 and .45 cal now.

El Josey, G19 is also my weapon of choice. I feel like I can control it and could put multiple rounds in the threat. Every one needs to remember that you cant stop it if you cant hit it. If you base your weapon caliber selection on numbers put on paper you have not trained correctly.
