Those were my target before I changed to wanting a 1911. Still may get one later. Or a an SP-01 if I run across one.

I keep hearing this from everyone who owns one and even the "Experts" who test guns and make videos they all say the same thing.

For the price point, you CAN NOT beat it. Even without the great price, they are worth it. But for 349??? Crazy good deal. That's why I bought 3

For universal every day carry a S&W shield is tough to beat and can be had with or without a manual safety.

I just bought a .40 Performance Center Shield this weekend....on sale for 399$ and a mfg rebate.

Now my interest is peaked. Looks a lot like the old Walther p99 platform..maybe it is. Saw they have a 5.2" barrel model and a compact... i may pick up both of these instead of 1 PPQ 5".

Anywhere around Baton Rouge carry them or has anyone seen one at gun shows recent?

I ordered all of mine online and shipped to an FFL... easier and generally cheaper that way (if you can find a good FFL price). Prepper gun shop is where I got mine I believe...

I own a Canik TP9SF as well and really like it. It's had bout 150 rounds through it so far Mine is Cerakote khaki and cost me only $320 online. . I didn't buy the TP9SF as I saw no need for the decocker. To me, it needlessly complicates things and runs the risk of causing a dead trigger. As far as the OP is concerned, while the TP9SF is a nice range gun, but I wouldn't personally use it for concealed carry and it doesn't have an external safety lever.

Cant recommend a kahr as i hate the trigger and mags.

What's your issue w/ the Kahr trigger? It's different from a striker trigger, but it was designed to have the feel of a DA revolver trigger, not a striker pistol. My two Kahr's indeed have a long trigger (not short like a striker), but break cleanly at 5.75# and 5.5#. The trigger functions as designed: like a nice, smooth DA revolver w/o an external safety lever.

The mags are junk amd kahr knows it.
Overpriced, yes, but "junk," no. They're basically a lightly modified 1911 mag. In fact, there's a lot of info on the 'net about being able to use lightly modified (or unmodified) 45 ACP 1911 mags in the Kahr 45 ACP's. I can run my 1911 45 ACP mags w/o problems in my Kahr CW45.

Somehow Kahr cannot make the 7rd CM9 mags reliable for shite but i shot a p9 with no issues.

The Kahr 7rd CM9 and P9 magazines are one and the same. I don't have a Kahr 7rd mag, but the 6 and 8 round Kahr mags run smoothly in my CM9.

If it's like Walthers AS trigger, it's good for guys who've trained with DA/SA guns or like the heavy first pull to act as a safety, if its like the QA trigger then its a waste of space. That's really the only reason to want it. My SOs gramps has an FFL so I may see if he can just order one for me. It is based on the P99 design which I already know I like.

Let me be clear on the Kahr, it's a great gun. The recoil is shockingly minimal and the 6rd mags have been 100%. Can be concealed in absolutely anything. As a matter of fact I sold it to the fore mentioned gramps yesterday for his new carry piece. I wouldn't have sold it to him if it were junk. I also carried it for 2 years nearly everyday. I just can't recommend it to anyone without explaining the quirks it comes with. For your average gun owner looking for recommendations, I think there are easier options to be had. 10 years ago I would have said Kahr was the only game in town for a small reliable single stack 9mm, now there are plenty of options Glock, SF, Walther, S&W, hell even a budget friendly Bersa.

The trigger is all a matter of preference on my part. I actually think its the exact correct trigger for that size gun. I have some DA/SA .25 and .32s that I've accidentally double tapped even with the minimal recoil on those small pistols. It's simply different from any other gun I own and I was never any good with it, not to say I couldn't get the job done but it required specific training I wasn't willing to put in. I now carry a PPS M2 which is a better size for my hands.

They have several well known issues, mostly with the 7rd variety, but some with all. Part of the issue is it is based on the 1911 mags, 9mm isn't exactly a straight wall cartridge.
1. Rounds in spare mags wiggle free. Solution - buy good mag pouches
2. Factory followers are hit and miss. Some never lock back. Solution - Upgrade to metal aftermarket followers
3. 7rd mags are unreliable, very well documented. Extremely prone to nose dives. This is caused by tight tolerances/bad followers. Dirty mags. Bad angle with the followers and the 9mm cartridge not being straight walled. Factory springs sometimes not being strong enough.

There is a stickied thread over at the Kahr forum with instructions to specifically fix these issues. The 9mm cartridge issue can be helped with an aftermarket follower but it wont eliminate it completely.

The TP9SA has a single action only trigger. Using the decocker renders the trigger dead since the action doesn't have a DA option. Get the TP9SF. I think you'll like it.

Re: the problems you mentioned w/ the 7 round mags another solution is to do what I do....run the 8 round mag as a back up instead of the 7 round.

With a quality holster, a well maintained pistol, and the grip safety I'd recon carrying cocked and not locked would be fine as well. Had a bud who was convinced he could carry without on in the pipe.. First time I made him quick draw with snap caps he short stroked the slide... People over estimate their motor skills if they were scared for their life.

I just bought Ruger SR1911 9mm. Very happy with it. 4.25" barrel. I dont carry so not sure if too big to conceal...boards have a lot of people who carry this model. Good luck!

Me too. Considering adding a Wilson low lever safety. Just not real comfortable with current safety level.
