IMHO, w/ the proper holster, belt and clothing, a Commander is not too "big" to carry. The issue w/ the 1911 is weight. An all-steel Commander will come in at approx 34 oz (unloaded), about 13 oz heavier than a Glock M19. OTOH, an aluminum Commander weighs 28 oz. I still like my Commander for cc, but don't carry it nearly as much as I do my MUCH lighter Kahr CW45 and Kahr CM9.
