You aren’t kidding

The GP 100 isn’t a pretty as the 686, but it is built like a tank. I don’t think you’d ever have to worry about making a .357 round too hot for that gun. I would feel comfortable running the hottest Buffalo bore ammo through mine all day.

Do yourself a favor and pick up some 38 specials to shoot through it too. The recoil is non existent

That's true you know. No arguing with that. It's ugly but it's built like a tank.

I think the GP100 is a nice looking revolver.

Something must be wrong with me.

I had an itch recently to get a .357 and no where locally had the S&W and I was impatient so I picked up the Taurus 66 in 4in. I have a snub nose .38sp Taurus that I bought years ago that I like, so I said frick it. The 6in was just too big for my liking. I'll prolly end up getting the S&W as well. If I do, I might get the 6in just for variety.

I love my Taurus Tracker 6.5” 357. But Now I have a $500 gift card to basspro that I’m dying to use. I could just stock up on ammo but a S&W 686 is tempting me.

Update: shot it for the second time today.

38, 357 magtech the first time. Inconsistent to say the least. The recoil with the 38 is like a nerf gun.

Today I shot some quality factory rounds. Federal 357 158gr and my God it’s fun! Ringing a little 6” steel plate at 25 yards shooting with one hand.

This thing is gloriously fun to shoot.

Had to remove the beautiful rosewood handgrips from my GP100 4” 357mag and replace with Hogues. Not as attractive but much more fun to shoot.

You just needed more cushioning in the hands? Or was the wood just harder to grip? I’ve never had wood grips before but my next revolver will.

Going shoot my .357 for the first time tomorrow. Only gonna bring a few rounds of .357. will be mostly shooting 38sp. Pretty excited. Gonna shoot my RIA 1911 45 ACP for the first time tomorrow too. Its my first 1911; I'm pretty pumped.

I never shot much 38s. They aren't hardly any cheaper than 357's if at all.

Right, but I have 520 38sp rounds, and only 100 .357 rounds.

Yeah don’t waste the lethal rounds that are harder to find.
