most of the shares are owned by two-three old men that bought them years ago and kept buying more as others got out. They are using the equity as an investment. If I was in charge of WQ, I would go scorched earth on every deer I saw on the property, knowing the population would recover in five or less years. There's plenty of deer around to backfill. We have friends with Bruin camps across the road from WQ, there are deer every night on the yard cameras eating acorns, roses, etc.

The amount of stupid shite that gets posted on here is mind boggling. Good lord

Looks like WQ's lead counsel has logged in.

I mean this sincerely without mockery: please educate me on what part of my post was inaccurate...my info is coming from a member of WQ, my Bruin camp is also across 604 from WQ main gate, and I hunt around Yucatan.

It’s been like this since harvest was complete. It’s easy to tell who the city dwelling coonasses are around here.

Fair point, Ron. But some of these properties put out tons of feed. Tractor trailer loads.
in 70s and early 80s several big duck groups did this too.

Sure we still have cows, the outbreak was only in England, which also still has cows. Of course 4.5 million were killed and burned all across the country and 180 people died.

So how about in-state farmed deer?

CWD has been around a long time. People have been eating deer a long time. Zero evidence it transfers to humans. Hell, it doesn't really kill many deer. I don't get the panic over this.

Where am I panicking? I simply said I don't eat deer from known CWD areas without testing. Can my venison come in contact with it at the processor? Sure but I don't use processors that are in CWD areas. Is CWD possibly where I hunt and it not be know, sure but that's a risk I am okay with.

Also in regards to no evidence, hard to have evidence for something that hasn't been investigated. Just like how people say CWD has been here forever, it's just showing up now because they are testing for it. They don't test for CJD nor do they investigate much into how one gets it.

LDWF Jim Lacour said in todays CWD update video (Conservation Concersations) that “…CWD is here, won’t go away and is now a management issue.

Why would someone buy deer and turn them loose on a free range property?

I can’t begin to tell you how many WQ’s deer I killed back in the late 80’s and early 90’s, hunting on the levee across from Bruin.

To introduce these freakishly large rack genetics, for the money.

Prob release does to keep it off the radar.

As an aside, I do not understand the infatuation these deer farmers (and the topwaters driving demand for such) have with growing these huge bucks. It’s the money, but it’s a weird fkn fetish.

I have a cousin that died from CJD last year.Drs said it was sporadic version, that is spontaneously developed which is the cause of most cases. Is very rare.

Mayo Clinic has very good discussion of CJD if some smart person knows how to link it.(I’m a dumbass)

Article says it would be very rare to contract it from an infected animal but recommends have animal tested if from CWD area.
There have been some documented cases from contaminated surgical instruments.

I don’t understand it either. I’d rather have a mature 140 class 8 point than some crazy looking 200 class deer that weighs 150 lbs.

Pretty sure a high school friend of mine hunts there on his father in law's share.
