Thanks for all of the input.
It’s getting hard to talk him out of the Jeep.

My wrangler was awesome for when I lived on LSUs campus. Can park it damn near anywhere and it’s great to whip around campus, but other than that it got to be a pain in the arse. Only have the soft top so you get over about 55 mph and it’s too loud to talk on the phone or even hear the radio well. The 4Runner is a more well rounded vehicle imo

None taken. Mine is over 11 years old with less than 23K miles. It still runs like the day i bought it except with all the mods. I will never get rid of it. I am waiting another 5 years and will probably drop a hemi or a diesel in it. It's a solid 1st owner vehicle is that it will probably break but they are very easy to repair and maintain. Well, most thing that is.

My wife's 4 door wrangler drove like shite. Working on it made me realize they built it it with shite. Especially for what it costs. Really no comparison here to the quality of the two.

That v6 minivan motor now,

The 3.8 from 06-12 or 13 was a turd. I owned a 2010 and hated the engine. Burned oil as well.

The 3.6 they use now is in everything from the Challenger to the Rams. Huge improvement in power.

That said, get him a Yota

Just one other thought, even though the wrangler is overpriced the resale value is high just like the 4 runner.

But the leases we have haven't given us any major problems in a year and a half. Hard miles...

210k miles on Nissan daily driver. Gets all four wheels off the ground on a set of railroad tracks going into town daily. Redline most gears.

Changed all hoses and valve cover gaskets ay 200k.

Top end of the motor looked new.

No new V6 jeep is saying that.

My old Rubicon is still going though. I sold it at nearly 190k. I see it a few times a week in brusly. Still tastefully lifted and running perfectly. But it had a lot of little shite go wrong and get replaced to get to that mileage.

4Runner can be every bit as cool as the Jeep IMHO.

The picture above is where the wife’s is headed and I can’t wait.

Understand. I took a friend hunting in West Texas in my 06 Rubicon a few years ago. When we got there I was normal and he was all jacked up saying he'd never make a road trip in a Jeep again. LOL

It's all what you are used to. I drove that Jeep from Louisiana to West Texas so many times I can't guess. I also drove it to Northern California, Chicago, Maryland, New Mexico multiple times and Minnesota. Didn't phase me at all, but you gotta be a Jeep guy.

Who makes the 4Runner?
Who makes the Wrangler?
Find the answer to those two questions and you will know which way to proceed.

The guns and working in a college bar for several years did far more damage to my hearing than the Jeep ever will

Drove an old tracker, gutted, bedlined, on 35s to Seattle and back.

Now that, that was loud. And cold

In the right hands the forerunner is as good an off-road vehicle as the wrangler...lots of them around the world being used by military and police....

I have a 2018 4Runner. Love it.

Still have my Jeep Cherokee because they won't give you a square deal on the trade in.

I looked at Cherokees again before I bought the 4Runner, but I just liked the Toyota better.
