If you are looking and this is your budget, this is in stock as of right now.

$499, I checked putting in the cart and with shipping it's $509.
Not the best rifle out there, but all reviews seem solid, and it's likely the best price you will find, by about $100.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Primary Arms is the best gun retailer in the country. From the way the website is laid out, the sells they have, and the fact if you order something it is at your house in two days. I try to strictly order from them when at all possible.

Yep, just saw that. Must have just happened, it had been there awhile, and I occasionally refreshed.

I got something elsewhere, slightly lower but with higher shipping, that came out around the same (maybe $10 less). Also a Radical Firearms, mine had 1:7 twist instead of 1:8 (this most recent). Different stock too.

This is the 2nd RF that Primary Arms has had in a week at that price, the previous was also a 1:7 twist.
I guess keep watching both Primary Arms and Radical, we'll see if they keep pumping out affordable guns.

I contacted RF about mine, just curious- they responded that based on serial #, the gun was made 5/14.

I had one in my cart for awhile, and pretty strongly considered getting another. In the end, I passed, at least for now. I do want to get another by Christmas, but don't want to go over this price. Hopefully, there will be further opportunities.

Yep. I’ve been eyeing this all afternoon and would have ordered if I hadn’t already spent a bunch of $ on other gear. Maybe I’ll get the itch next go round.

Pardon the newbie question

Twist?

1:7 twist means the bullet spins one full rotation for every 7 inches of barrel. 1:8...8 inches.

Most ARs are 1:7 or 1:8.

Since I'm new to this platform-

mine is a 1:7 twist. 16.5" barrel. I've heard that bullet weights like different lengths and twists.

Buddy of mine said should be good with 55gr bullets, I've read somewhere that heavier bullets do better with what I have.
Is it definitive, and is it noticeable within 100 meters?

Looks back in stock. While not as good as the MPR, it's a great first rifle (or 5th).

You’ll be fine with any grain ammo with 1:7. The gun and bullets will shoot better than you.

Just checked, don't see it in stock now (or a comparable sub-$500 rifle).

Thanks, I assumed it would.

Reading some of the overall AR reviews about "use this" and "don't do that", you get the impression that it's fragile and finicky. That's not what I wanted, or bought it for. I'm not looking to shoot mice at 500 meters with $2 bullets, I don't want to pamper and baby it. I will clean it after a range session, as I do any of my firearms... but I wanted something I can toss a mag into if need be and use.

Part of the fun, is trying different ammo, and figuring out what is perfect in your rifle. Once you find it, buy the hell out of it, just in case they stop making it.

Slight hijack, but does anyone have opinions on Palmetto State Armory completed rifles? I had been watching their site over the last few weeks and ordered one at the end of June. It has been shipped and should arrive at the Academy here in Collierville any day now. Their website shows several in stock now

I've owned one for a couple years now. Excellent rifles for the price. I have had no issues and would recommend them to anyone looking at getting a quality rifle at a good price.

A buddy ordered 2 and got them in yesterday. Hasn't got to shoot them yet but he's impressed with the fit and finish, smoothness of the action and clean drop of mags from the magwell.

Scoob, I’ve found that barrels act as individuals and a twist rate is a good starting point but not gospel. I’ve seen 1:9 AR barrels that love the heavy stuff and 1:7 barrels that like the light stuff. You just try a combination until it finds what it likes. Even my Aero AR10 prefers 150gr Barnes TTSX handloads over the heavy stuff.

Their 308 rifles are quite accurate. I’ve sighted a couple in for friends and was amazed at the accuracy with factory ammo. One was shooting sub MOA with Remington Core Lokt, the other rifle with Federal Fusion. The 308s have magwell issues running Pmags sometimes but the reliability and accuracy are great.

My opinion would be to buy a completed upper and BCG/handle and the next day a completed lower. If you buy all of those in the same transaction, you incur the 11% federal excise tax on completed rifles.

That was my first location to search, but I couldn't find anything competitive with the price I got this Radical gun.

I know PSA is the default "budget rifle maker", but they've been cleaned out of anything under $700 whenever I looked.
