I absolutely prefer an auto, over a pump, for anything that's going to require shooting a ton of shells... open water ducks, doves, sporting clays, etc.

And I can get two shots off faster with my double than either a pump or an auto.

That's a bad thing some times. I have a hunting buddy who shoots 3 times before the ducks are out of range. He misses out on some of the really easy shots never connects on all three of those fast shots anyway.
