If it had 5 babies under 7 it could be my trailer park niece.

The state may have lost the battle to pythons, iguanas, snakeheads, tilapia, parakeets and over 150 other nonindigenous species, but the fight continues. Agencies also have their attention on a different war, which is stopping invaders before they ever get started. There are serious concerns that anacondas, mongooses or flying foxes could be next.

shite, at this point just let everything loose and let a new ecosystem evolve.

Since then, Burmese pythons have caused chaos by disrupting the food chain. According to studies by the U.S Geological Survey in Everglades National Park, there has been a 99.3% decrease in raccoon observations, 98.9% decrease in opossum observations and 87.5% decrease in bobcat populations. The most recent surveys have shown that marsh rabbits, cottontail rabbits and foxes have “effectively disappeared.”

I’ve just now overcome my irrational fear of water snakes.

If I stumble on to a python it’s gonna be a set back in my recovery.

And that's just one of several invasive animal species not indigenous to that environment that have pretty much taken over. There are also 2 species of Iguana that also eat native species and plants that are starting to get a good foothold in the Everglades.

They target every native animal for a food source. Alligators, birds, rabbits, coons, possums, native fish, turtles, etc. are all on the decline.

Florida is a fricking mess with the invasives. Unfortunately, the climate in south florida is close enough to that of the tropical areas that most exotics come from that many of them thrive.

I hit a 14-15 footer in a Kia one time. It was like hitting a tree trunk.

Oh, there's Nile crocodiles down there now, too.

All I want to know is how it all affects the turkeys. If the snakes are eating possums and coons that's awesome.

Apex ambush predator vs. turkey.... I don't think it has a much better chance than the possums and coons.

Can we just cut southern Florida from the US and give it to Central America?
