The Mrs will be happy for fresh backstrap. First buck in 5yrs. First deer I’ve seen at the new camp, including bow season. Small 7pt. Came out by himself at 5 after 5pm, watched him till right at dark then remembered what one of the older members at the camp told me....”if you have the shot on a mature doe or buck, and you need the meat or someone you know needs the meat...you better take the shot”

Ended up seeing 7 deer this evening.
A lone doe came out at 4 and fed till dark. A doe with twins eased through about 515.
Right at dark I heard something in the creek and 2 does came in the field. I noticed something behind them and a nice sized buck walked out. He stayed close to the creek and wouldn’t give me a shot. Well he started to turn and ran straight for the first doe that came out. She didn’t want anything to do with him and the chase was on. Kinda early for this area but I’ll take it.
