What an absolute shite show of a morning. Woke up early, because I planned to be in my tree by 5:30. Since where I was parking wasn’t far from my camper, I decided to just ride my bike from the camper, instead of warming up the truck and all that, just to go a short distance. Got packed up, threw the truck keys in the camper, locked the camper, camper keys in bibs pocket, headed out. Stashed the bike just inside the woods and started my 3/4 mile walk. Ended up getting hot, so I took off my bibs and jacket and strapped them to my pack. Got about 300 yards from my tree and realized I wasn’t wearing my saddle! Dropped my pack and my bow, and took off back to the bike. Got almost to my bike when it hit me… my camper keys are in my bibs… on my pack… Turned around again, got the keys, then back to the bike, back to the camper, got the saddle, then all the way back in. Didn’t get in the tree until almost 7:00. You gotta love it.

You'll probably shoot a big one and it will make a great story.

Happened to me to the other day. Decided to go to the furthest part of the woods as well on this particular day. Put the first stick on the tree and reached for my lineman's belt which was no where to be found.

One afternoon this year I got all the way to the duckblind and realized I didn’t put my waders on. Headed back and the ranger decided to crap out on me. After a 45 minute walk out I just went home.

Stupid happens

Man that’s a shitty feeling. If it wasn’t for seeing that hammer in here yesterday, I would’ve fired up the generator and went back to sleep lol

Man I hope so! When I was walking back in, there were some hogs rooting around, and some coyotes howling pretty close by. So I’m hoping my footsteps blended in with all that commotion and didn’t mess it up too bad.

Buddy, you deserve taking down Muy Grande with all the effort you’ve put in. I’ll keep you company starting Wednesday afternoon I hope.

Weve all been there. This is why taking a deer really is a small miracle. It takes planning, effort, money, luck. Think of the indians who did the same thing forgetting arrows or bowstring to their favorite set up. Doh!!

I shot my biggest public land buck this year 30 seconds after shooting a pig. Pig went crashing thru the palmettos and the buck came running to see what all the commotion was about.

I would have been defeated and went back to the camper to warm up...

I killed my best buck last year on a day where it took me an extra 30 minutes to get in the saddle, dropped my pull rope, had to re-adjust my platform for 20 minutes, and left half my gear in the truck. Sometimes it's meant to be, and for the effort you've put in I'm rooting for you.
