Pretty much this. At Big Rack near Newellton during a hard freeze. The deer did not want to cross ice, and I was at the tip of a frozen slough.

A bunch. We have a company lease in Freer, Tx that's 100,000 acres high fence. As soon as they drop you off at a stand and drive off and throw with the feeder mounted on the front of the truck, the deer immediately come out of the brush and start feeding. I'd guess maybe 40 or 50 was the most I've seen. I don't consider that "real" hunting.

The most I've seen in Louisiana was probably last year opening day, which was about 20 total crossing a pipeline.

i kind of forgot about that. the numbers i listed in OP were since i started hunting on my own. I hunted in texas as a teen and i'm sure i saw more than 20 at the feeders there. It is fun watching them, though. just doesn't feel the same as sitting in a tree on public land and seeing them.

The area that I grew up hunting didn't have many deer. You could go several hunts without seeing a single deer.

The first time I went hunting with my GF (now wife) in college on some family land, we had 40+ deer out in a big arse food plot at once. I remember thinking "damn, I didn't know this was possible". Ended up killing a lot of deer at that place.

I have had about 60+ animals (whitetail, axis deer) around me at onetime on a free range hunt in west texas. All within about 70 yds (some right under me in 12ft in a mesquite tree).

Good times.

When we were hunting in West Texas there was one year where there would be 150+ deer and another 50-100 hogs in an 80 acre winter wheat field every day late in the season. A lot of the does would never leave the field. They would just bed down in the middle of it and there was a small tank in the middle for water.

Edwards County Texas over 100 in a day between morning and evening hunt, low fence densely populated area wide open range with rolling hills and cedar breaks. Very dry year. Feeder goes off and they literally sprint in from all directions. Really wasn't hunting at all.

Louisiana I have seen 11 on one hunt on public land. Have seen 9 on private land hunt

11 in the front yard at night. They hide there during hunting season.

I brought a friend of mine 2 years ago and we hunted in the same stand. And he said basically the same thing...there's not much excitement in picking 1 deer out of 20 and pulling the trigger on it. Nothing gets my heart pumping like sitting all morning and a deer slips out on you.

Saw 10-15 while hunting in Claiborne Parish several years ago. I saw that many yesterday in one lane putting out corn on a piece of property I bought this year. I'm stoked to say the least!
