Every time I look at those pics my chest tightens and I have to look away. The pelicans aren't just birds - they are Louisiana.
One thing I am happy about is that the cleaned birds are being released here in Tampa, so I can get a chance to see these beauties fly!

And I don't live in Louisiana.

I wonder if the photographer went and rescued the bird after he took the picture or if he went back to his laptop to email it to the AP.

This is the worst man induced ecological disaster in the history of man. The stage was set by Cheney's secret energy task force with secret cover provided by our Supreme Court.
Just like the policies of the Federal Reserve and Treasury. BP is running this show, the PR, cleanup as if there will be any, criminal and civil litigation, they are on top of it all. It will be interesting to see how they marginalize first hand witnesses. Nothing is spared for the rich. Nothing is given to the poor. Just like any good Christian Nation would do.

Would it change anything if he did? My guess is he was with some people who were trained to handle the birds, so they took care of it after he snapped the picture.
