Im thinking if they were able to anchor it to the BOP that maybe the seal would blow out, just a guess though.

It would be next to impossible to create a seal strong enough to hold back the build up of pressure that would take place. You think just because they put a cap on it the gas and oil stops flowing? No. It would continue to flow and continue to build up pressure until it blew the thing sky high again.

See,I don't know what seal would hold under those kind of PSI's anyway.

It might blow out just sitting on top anyway it sounds like.

Hey guys I'm about to pack up and go to my rig for the day. I have internet there but can't get video. I would appreciate it if someone could drop a line occasionally in here for me to get an idea on what they are doing.

Thanks

Did they actuate it? I see the bent kill line but could that have been from placing the shear? I doubt it had that little impact if they actually tried.

Yes but they didn't do more than clamp down on it. It looked like they needed to get the riser deeper into the shear.

Riser pipe can't hold the pressure if a valve were installed. Another bop might be installed if this doesnt work, It does have a valve to shut off thr flow.
