Don't get me wrong. I hope your relative is right, but I haven't seen or heard anything to suggest it.

Is the main leak right at the top of the BOP where it is bent or further down the riser? I cant find an up to date graphic
its leaking at the top of the BOP where they pipe is bent and at the end of the pipe thats laying on the sea floor. They both seem to be leaking to me about the same but Im sure one is worse, not that it matters though. I did see a shot of the end of the pipe on CNN last night and it looked like oil pouring out and not the brownish mud mix that we've been seeing out of the top of the BOP.

BP is broadcasting the end of the riser shot, and it sure looks like oil.

From NYT, which seems to have a god source:
"The technician said that engineers had come up with a variety of theories about why efforts have failed so far, and they were trying different sizes of objects. He said the process required trial and error — and sifting through various theories among engineers in the operation’s control room — about the best way to clog the “internal geometry” of the damaged equipment."

I wouldn't put it past an american president and/or a massive oil company to hide something from the public in order to protect their reputation (i.e. in case they only temporarily stopped it)

maybe something to do with the pressures but it would be nice if they could put some sort of inflatable device inside and then blow it up some sort of way

I'm not referring to hearing or seeing anything from Obama or BP.

“internal geometry”
My theories, freshly pulled out of my behind:
The smooth theory. Only the hydril ever engaged, and it has been ripped to shreds. That means the wellbore below the BOP is pretty straight and smooth, leaving nothing for the junk shot to hang up on except the constriction at the bent riser.
The double part theory. A piece of dril pipe is hung up in one of the rams, but it is open at either end within the stack. This means there is aclean path for the oil to flow even if they clog up wht is left of the BOPs. This would probably have to mean that the shears never engaged.
The wash out theory. The drill pipe is there and has not parted. However, it is now washed out in so many places that it is impossible to clog it up.
I haven't had coffee yet, so maybe I can pull a few more out after a cup of community dark roast.

Cool.
If you hear that Obama's having a presser tomorrow, they stopped it.
If Obama dosent have a presser tomorrow they either failed or my source is b.s.

Thank you for that thought. You've got the live feed. You have sources on the boat. You have reporters in the command center, and in the war room in Houston. Just how exactly could they hide something?
Let's also look at a little reality. They have ten boats out there at a minimum directly working this project. That's ten captains, ten mates, ten engineers, and a bunch of oilers, deckhands, and galley hands on EACH boat. They are watching this live. That is not to mention the ROV drivers, six per ROV. They are broadcasting this live to you.
Do you think they killed Kennedy too? Do you think they were responsible for 9/11? Because those conspiracy theories are more viable than the "they're hiding something from us."

Judge, put another scoop of that Community in the pot.

This is too big and too many people involved to hide anything. The messed up part is that it seems like they are still trying to hide stuff making them look worse by the day.

looks like straight black oil coming out of the pipe now

This well has been blowing uncontrolled for more than a month. Why hasn't the formation 'sanded in' by now, clogging the leak?

the only people who actually know whats going on are the people operating the rov's.

Good question. My thoughts.
--It is a big hole at the bottom. That is 7 5/8's smooth pipe it is coming up. It is harder for a big pipe to clog. A lot of times you are using sand control for small perforations.
--this formation has ungodly permeability. The oil flows so easily out of the sand that it is not forcing up a lot of sand with it.
--Channeling. If there are just loads of channels on the back side, some would continue to flow while others clogged up.
That's all I got.
