Is that the same ROV sent back or a different one than the one that surfaced?

And several others. Overall, this has been a very good thread with thoughtful answers to folks that are pretty much ignorant on things in the oil related field (me). Thanks to all for your patience with questions that may be simple and obvious to some of you.

I know they are able to stay down for very long time frame. On a lot of jobs they send out a 6 man crew to run the sub 24 hours a day

Is that gas coming out? I am talking about the small whitish streams.

Any chance they are trying to pump a spacer? I don't see how,but I wish they were.

Question for any cement dudes (or gals). Is there a cement they can pump that will set up even if contaminated with drilling mud?

If I learned anything on this thread ...and I may have this wrong but I think that are trying to get to a 0 pressure on the well with the mud before using the cement. No 0 pressure no using cement.

Yeah, yeah, I know. But a guy can dream, can't he?

Does anybody know if there is any way they could pump cement into a flow? What have they go to lose if they are going to cut off the riser and put a grommet on it anyway?

not under pressure

mud leaves a water/filmy residue on the pipe that the cement cant stick to. That is why they needed the spacer to set the cement

I am not reading through what all has been going on so far tonight, so I will just ask......

My expertise is not offshore, but on land.

What are they trying to do right now, send down a slug of some sort to try and kill the well?

I have not followed anything on tv today, which is why I ask.

Im guessing again but I would say that if they just used the cement.

A) it would blow out of the riser
B) It might prevent them from placing a new BOP on top of the old one
C) I dont think it will matter or anything will work untill more resistance is provided on the riser end.

D) and most likely I dont have a clue.
