I really love people "just asking questions" that are essentially "why in the hell aren't any of these people as smart as me sitting here on Tigerdroppings?"

I think his point is that some of the people "asking question" are not really contributing "informative things."

Why not have a backup saw ready.....how about ten backups to the backups. Someone had to anticipate this possibly happening.

Oh come on. How many of those saws are there, and even if there were a million of them, how many do you think they can use at once? How many can they store on the deck of that ship? How many cranes can the ship hold and use at one time?

Hells Bells! If they had 20 of the damn things sitting there at the well head they still would have to move the one currently in use out of the way before they set they next one in place.

I think the way you are looking at this forum is pretty strange to say the least. I am finding a bunch of informative things here on TD. I say if you don't like it,GTFO.

I couldn't agree with you more. the TECHNICAL comments are extremely helpful. My frustration with some of the "questions" stems exactly that they are NOT technical in nature, but rather "why are these idiots so dumb, how could they NOT think of X, Y or Z".

Note well: What follows is a WAG.

I think that when the saw got stuck, they brought in the tongs and cut the other end of the riser. That gave them enough play to take the bind off the wire.

I know during that whole process, they were watching the level on the BOP stack closely, so I think they were concerned about it shifting as the weight on the riser shifted.

I get it!!! You would have been a proponent of shutting the well down with sea water(like BP) instead of mud....just costs too much....probably not enough space to store all that expensive mud.

Give those 10 year olds a few hours to practice and they'd have that fricker buttoned up in no time.

This might be the most ridiculous post I've seen since this entire thing started.

Why is there a lag time on the ROV? Well first of all they are controlling it from 5,000 feet away. They have to first wait for the video feed to reach them on surface then they have to feed the controls back to the ROV based on the video feed from 5,000 feet away.

Also, does anyone even know how many of these diamond cutters exist in the world? Could we be looking at the only ones in existence?
