Cattle ranchers will be screaming come winter and they don't have any hay to feed their herds.

Is that hay? (I don't have speakers at work) If so, Florida and Alabama are already putting hay bales out.

When it gets to the beaches or shore, use front loaders scoop it up and then use as fuel. They did go over that in the video.

Collect it & then burn it?

i posted this idea and got no response, i guess it wasnt a good one. but, i think it makes sense. it will mobilize the fisherman and get them working. they can react quicker to the moving slicks and get closer inland. Most of the booms do nothing but deflect the oil, we need to get the oil out of the gulf. these would work well in conjunction with the booms.

we reached out with our idea to local and state government, 870am, several clean up companies, and BP. Really anyone who we thought would listen. Everyone refers you to BP, but all BP does is send to some hot line where a minimum wage worker whom they just hired off the streets takes your info.

The Company I work for makes about 80% of their money from filtering oil out of water. We do alot of well flowbacks and pipeline treatment. We have this powder that we could disperse over the oil, which would immediately soak it up and wouldn't let it go. Then we could just scoop the chunks up off the top of the water and off the beaches. We are trying to get in touch with BP because we know we could definitely help out. Hopefully they turn some of their focus to the clean up.
I am out on Petronius right now and there was a sheen all day floating by yesterday. Hopefully they can clean it up

They aren't cleaning up shite. All they are doing is hiding the oil with the dispersants. The dispersants when used close to shore are simply push the oil just below the surface so it can't be seen then it washes up on shore without any chance of surface containment.

fricking criminal.

They aren't "hiding the oil." Using an oil dispersant is not like sinking beer cans while fishing. It speeds up the natural biodegredation process.

another good alternative to hay is bagasse from sugar cane. Very absorbant cellulosic material, and can also be burned for fuel when saturated with oil.
