And, like I said, attributing car ownership to a sedentary lifestyle is the biggest crock of shite I've ever heard.
Car culture and urban sprawl go hand in hand leading people to spend more time in the car going to and from work and other places which leads to less time for exercise and less walking.
Is the logic that difficult to follow?

Congrats on being poor and having to live in a shitbox city. The rest of us are doing just fine with our country living lifestyle
I live in a 5 bedroom house in a town of 900 people. I have 2 trucks and SUV with V8 engines, a fishing boat and speed boat with a big block V8. I’m not fat or unhappy. My work is 5 miles down a country road where I produce food for all these fat miserable city dwellers who seek to make the rest of us miserable.
I think when I get off work I’ll take my wife and pour a bourbon and ride back roads guzzling fossil fuels just for the freedom of it

So take the fricking bus if that’s what you want.
Stop trying to force YOUR ideology on others. I don’t force anything on you.

More government is never, ever the answer.

Not to mention, it is not arguable that we are all poorer, more unhappy, fatter, and unhealthy due to the tertiary consequences of the mass adoption of the personal car
Imagine saying this with a straight face and actually believing it lol

Yes it is. It's an excuse. I live in a southern state in a smaller city where there is almost no commute or superfluous time in a car, and the amount of people here that are, shall we say, less than active, is profound. If you want to live an active lifestyle, you will.

We use imminent domain daily to support the car first lifestyle. Arguing the 'more government' in either direction on this topic is flawed.

Who said anything about FORCING anything on anyone? Link to where I advocated doing anything by force?
I am merely discussing urban planning and pointing out how decisions made in the 1940s and 1950s are causing negative consequences today.

Private auto travel is more expensive to tax payers and the individual. Most of us do not account for this though.
Thing is we will still need the roads private auto use for commerce. How else you gonna ship food, fuel, products, raw materials from rural America to the cities? How you gonna get produce from California to New York? Trains and Planes are way more inefficient and expensive than over the road trucking

Sorry, I didn't interpret that as you arguing for more government. Merely saying both avenues involve 'more government'

These same people who want to stop us from driving and live in the city have instituted policies that ruined cities.
The left ruins cities.
People move out of cities.
The left complains about people living in suburbs.

If you want to ride your little bike everywhere like a toddler, feel free.
I'll ride in a nice air conditioned luxury vehicle.
You do your thing, I'll do mine?

embrace the train, bikes, and mixed use developments and neighborhoods.
Maybe if public transportation wasn't so shitty and dangerous, more would.

Do you have a source? I am curious to see the stats and data on this.
Most in this thread are completely ignoring all the costs of personal autos in the discussion as well.
Needing a car to survive in American cities in yet another tax on everyone. It's curious that our resident car lovers never acknowledge this fact.

Its a pseudo religion for them. They're not happy with their participation, they want to force you into it as well.
They can't understand how someone can be relatively healthy and happy while riding cars and living in peace, because they're failures of humans.
