What have I said that was unhinged or cringe worthy?

Because I mouthed back off to you after you mouthed off first?

I haven't even been on the board really since like Tuesday. So wtf did I say that was cringe worthy?

The amount of dumbassness that is posted on travel ball on this board is insane. Mouthing back off is not being unhinged.

Cpa is a good profession, mine just happens to be better. Congrats though....to bad the intelligence you obviously have doesn't always come through in your post.

So that's your argument? Not even gonna address that there are not even 13 and 14 year leagues anymore?

You could just admit you are wrong since you don't have an argument.

And where the hell do you live that people are financing travel baseball or doing all kinds of fundraisers? I mean most organizations have fundraisers but it's like 1 a year and you don't have to participate.

And like I said before...it shouldn't even be called travel, should be called tournament ball cause in Louisiana and Texas there is hardly any travel more than an hour drive, 2 hours max.

Every weekend there is a tournament in BR, Lafayette, Crowley, Beaumont, Monroe or Shreveport area, Chalmette host a bunch. Houston has tons.

Unless you are in an elite organization like on canes national or zt elite etc you aren't traveling all over the country. Even traction canes black doesn't travel that much.

I'd start by rereading your posts.

The united states of America, where people finance pretty much all of their leisure or activities.

I traveled all over the southeast almost 20 years ago.

I guess I was just a way better player than your kids.

Glad your son enjoys ball. Maybe he'll look back at it fondly in a decade when he's a normal college student like everyone else

Prom and my kid are 9. But if you traveled all over....yea I hope you were elite of the elite.

That's the goal

Are you under the impression people like me and prom are doing this to get our kid a scholly? Because that's not why at all.

There are only 11.7 scholarships and 27 scholarship players. Baseball scholarships suck dick.

We do it because our kids like it and enjoy it and we enjoy pushing them to pursue their interest and because rec ball sucks. Travel ball is certainly watered down too but nothing like rec.

We look around and realize to make a hs team in the lake charles area you have to be at a certain level and you aren't getting there without playing high level travel ball.

Is that the way it should be? Du no and don't care cause there is nothing I can do to change it.

And I dunno of anyone financing travel ball lol.

Add up gas, lodging, eating out for the family, club fees, and equipment…

It’s retarded.

A lot of you have know clue about Travel ball. In most cases they are getting way better coaching which will help kids development a benefits your son/daughter and makes them a better player. My son plays for one of the top organizations in Houston and his coach played more than 15 years in the MLB. Most of the people complaining probably never played past Rec ball and don't have a clue and are just pissed their kid sits the bench. Travel Ball isn't for everybody and a lot of the complainers are trying to live their life through their kids because they couldn't make it was past Recreation ball. That's why they have recreation ball. If your one complaining it's time to realize they shouldn't be in travel ball, unless your on a daddy ball team, that's very common in lower divisions. I'm not trying to be an arse, it's just the truth.

When is the last time you say your kid down and asked him if he loves it?

And also if you are one or the posters bitching about the money part, it might be time to go find something else to play. If your child is good enough every penny you spent will be well worth it!!

I’ve asked him 100 times this season. And then again after some difficult practices.

He says he loves it and gets home, gets his bat and a ball and commences to throwing a ball up in the air and hitting it until the sun goes down.

My absolute #1 priority for him is to have fun and avoid burnout and of course, his health. I’ve made a promise to him that as soon as he says he’s not having fun then he doesn’t have to play and I won’t MAKE him do anything. I’ve told him this many of times over.

Travel ball has ruined baseball
at younger ages and high school. Money is the motivating factor.

The Best players in high school with D1 offers are the athletes and kids with big arms. They would be that with or without travel ball. Travel ball sometimes improves little Johnny just enough to make the high school team. Of course, now some high school coaches are in on the money scheme and have travel ball teams at younger ages. Canes and Knights organizations sell the dream to little Johnny. What Johnny doesn’t know is the elite summer ball teams during his high school years ( where colleges recruit) are set based on metrics which 99 percent of players will never have and which you don’t get by playing travel ball.

Johnny will never run a 6.5 60 yard dash, throw 90 out of hand or have elite bat speed even with his private lessons and travel ball coaching.

Ex. D1 player. 7 drafted from college team. 1 from high school team. None played travel ball.

I’m not doubting any of that. But actions speak louder than words. I have no doubt that you are a good dad…I just wonder if he says and does what he does because deep inside he thinks you’d be disappointed after spending all that time and money.

I say this from experience. Not with baseball, but other endeavors. Regardless, I truly hope this is the best path for your family.

I played a lot of sports - I don't recall my parents shelling out money at all - I was just a decent athlete - not great on any level - but good enough to get to play. IDK WTF these parents are doing these days - but it's their money - so have at it. I was probably a top 10 athlete at my HS and it led nowhere. I was better off with the money my parents spent on my education. I was never going to be a professional athlete and I wasn't that bad at anything. Hell I can still beat my nephews at just about anything and they've been doing this stuff their entire lives. The people that can play any sport on a pro level are few and far between. There are some amazing athletes out there and you should know really quick whether you're part of that elite group or not.
