It only seems mysterious because so few acknowledge these facts:
Earth is one of many planets in the universe with intelligent life.
There are extraterrestial life forms all over the universe.
Aliens have visited this planet, we just don't know the details.

They say one of the laws is that energy cannot be created or destroyed, post big bangus. So whatever energy powers our soul will still exist in another form I assume, but will not die. It will always be. Maybe one day eons from now all of the energy in the universe might conform to be one like how it was before the big bang. Everything we know about anything tells us that life happens in cycles. The universe made these rules and therefor must abide by them too.
