Mom's great grandfather from her father's side was a graduate of the first class of LSU Medical School.

Mom's grandfather on mother's side was the fire Chief of new Orleans and an AAU Track and Field gold medal winner in two events. Would have been the favorite for gold in the 1916 Olympics but they were cancelled because of WWI. He was the first person to jog down St Charles Avenue for exercise.

My great uncle on mom's side won a Pulitzer Prize in journalism.

My first cousin was the editor of Playgirl magazine.

My great-great grandfather killed a man in East Texas in the 1850s...his sentence was that he could never return to that county.

Maybe regularly but this would be a hard factoid to verify.

Your great-grand-kids may one day brag about some of your exploits...

What are the names?

Not sure if this is what he's referring to, but the first 4 documented Acadian families in Louisiana were Landry, Richard, Cormier and Poirier in 1764 and settled on the Mississippi River in modern day St. James Parish. Resulting in the area being called the Acadian Coast and the first true Acadia (Cajun) settlement. The larger group which settled west of the Atchafalaya came a year later.

Ancestors came over from Ireland in the 1700s, became officers in the American military during the revolutionary war, and was given land in the south after the war.

They had a functioning plantation in Mississippi for nearly 100 years until the war of northern aggression

According to Ancestry.com "Sometime between 1759 and 1767 Jean-Baptiste Bourgeois and his four 2nd cousins moved from Acadia to St. James Parish. The brothers were the sons of Paul Bourgeois and Marie- Josephe Brun of Acadia. Their names were Paul (1731), Joseph (1734), Michel (1741), and Pierre (1745).
These 5 immigrants all decendents of Charles Bourgeois and Ann Dugas of the second generation may have been among the earliest settlers to occupy St. James Parish, having settled in the area prior to the establishment of the Parish."
It sounds like there may have been a bit of confusion as to who traveled to the area earliest. I am related to Paul Bourgeois by the way.
