They have a plan, they have money in the pipeline, and they don’t need the Horizon money.

But as long as they permit the Mississippi River to discharge tons of silt beyond the continental shelf, we are fighting a losing battle.

Duh you idiot. 45% to rainy day. Meaning: gap filler for bad decisions/ budget shortfalls. 45% for Medicaid: meaning: placating the democratic base. They got the money for damage to the coast and the gulf. The money should be spent on repairing the damage. It’s like you’re house burns down and you collect the insurance and blow it on hookers and blow.

there are plenty of people in LA who qualify for Medicaid who would have no problem affording private insurance

I know multiple biz owners in Baton Rouge who are on Medicaid

Don't know how that's possible. You can't get Medicaid in Louisiana if you have more than $450 of monthly income coming in. They're either breaking the law, they own very unproductive businesses, or you don't know what you're talking about.

Coastal restoration is a bottomless pit of futile desperation, corruption, hokey science, and environmental wet dreams.

- The left screams about coastal erosion
- the left gets funded to treat erosion
- the left blows money on other things that benefit leftists
- the left bitches about conservative capitalism is destroying the coast and they need funding

The money was moved because of the public/private fishing debate.

They could spend it on the education or roads that the Casinos were supposed to fund.

I’m pretty sure there’s another 5 billion that’s going to coastal restoration.

Lots of misinformation in this thread

Just like when Edwin Edwards was going to put all the tax dollars that came from gambling into the education system.

I have no idea what we spend in education but throwing money into the education system in Louisiana won't fix anything.

I was completely unaware that DWH did any damage at all to the Louisiana coastline

Obviously, so are you

So, you are saying all that oil and dispersants that came onto the coastline, marsh and beaches... none of that did any damage?

It's truly amazing how ignorant you are of basic scientific facts. It's scary, really.

The master plan for the coast is a 50 BILLION dollar plan.

So 5 billion is awesome... it's 10 percent of what is needed.

The vote for this was 97-4 in the LA house, which is almost 2/3rds GOP.
