Would go same route, LSU.
As long as Louisiana has TOPS it's hard to make any kind of argument that free college isn't the best option. I left school with a masters degree and no debt.

I would still go to LSU, but I would've given the offer to Harvard more real consideration. They do not offer athletic scholarships or didn't 15 years ago. I would've had to taken out a student loan, a massive one to go, but who knows where my life may have ended up? Still, all in all, I'd go back to LSU!

My choice would still be LSU. The regional presence in the industry that I wanted to pursue and TOPS make it a hard argument for an out of state school. Plus, LSU has great sports.

Being a finance major, and now that I have made friends who went to NYU, even with it being the most debt-ridden school in the nation, I would've chosen NYU. If you can stay on top of your shite and stomach the fact that you are going to be 120k in for and undergrad degree, the connections it gives you on wall st are immeasurable.
That being said, I did read a research article the other day that said being the top of your class at a shitty, or "non-prestigious", institution helped you more than being a middle of the road student at an ivy school. The research was based on published journal articles 4 years after graduation.

wish i didnt go to LSU. I met some cool people and one girl I had a crush on, but i feel like I wouldve had better opportunities, better friends and more fun elsewhere. And growing up in Br and going to LSU is weird.
Tulane, Texas, UCSB, or Oberlin were other choices. Didnt have grades or money tho

LSU was too much of a party school for me. I probably would have graduated earlier and with better grades had I stayed closer to New Orleans.
Not a knock on LSU, but between the social life and difficulty of their engineering program, it was a challenge just graduating.

I could see that. Graduating from an ivy just means you did well in high school. Being at the top of your class in your major says much more about what you actually know and what you can offer.

I had the grades (3.98) when I xferred to LSU. I should have gone somewhere like Brown or even Syracuse

I wouldn't change a thing. I loved everything about UVA. As TulaneUVA mentioned, few places offer a better blend of elite academics and the complete social experience of college.
