That’s the people that have been here forever. 80% of the population has only been here for less than 10 years. If the start a recall petition he will be gone. Issue is finding someone to run against him if it slides to 2026

the investigation would be of the accident and YPD response, not the chief’s general behavior in office

they are going to investigate him from his inauguration. They will dig up all the fixed tickets and charge him with malfeasance. Yes I know everyone does it but he’s the one being investigated. It’s a shame because I like the guy

All the people I know there have definitely been there for less than 10 years which are 2 BILs and their friends. But not sure if they really care enough or would want to put their name on a petition in case it fails. I legit just don’t know because I haven’t spoken to them about it. I know at least one of them knows about the controversy because he was talking about it with the wife (no pics) when Ricky was talking shite at that meeting.

I doubt the locals are afraid of retribution from Chief Popeye. We will see where this investigation leads and go from there.

that is exactly what Rickey was saying the City Council does not have the authority to do. He was challenging the City Attorney to say otherwise. The old City Attorney at the council hearing was a plant, he knew exactly what he was saying and he was putting it out there in the public that they can't just use city funds to investigate the Chief because they want to.
The Chief is elected, he doesnt answer to them. They do have some control over the city budget and money that goes to YPD. So at best what the Council could do is get the Chief to agree to a 3rd Party investigation of policies and procedures of the YPD related to that incident.
If the Council could have hung something on Rickey and it was politically acceptable they would have done it already. Someone inside telling the Advocate about it and then releasing the video was done as a campaign to create public outrage. Procedurally they dont have much they can do unless there is a crime and the outside LEO come to investigate. A recall would be outside of the city council and come from the people.

George is a POS aggie scum. He has scammed clients of retainers without lifting a finger to do the job he was hired to do.

While at the meeting he read a text message dated 3/2/23 from one of the council members requesting that he "fix" a traffic ticket for them.
Yes, he made it pretty obvious that he would bring down who he could.

This is accurate. There are people in Ricky's own neighborhood, who have seen him in fights with his ex-wife (that still lives in his home) in the street, and will still vote for him.
