Nah all the suites at the post oak come with a complimentary door guard. They wouldn’t know any different. They’d just think I was another Houston baller.

You're saying that someone would come get you before you turned the ticket in? How would they know who you are?

So what if it's reported which store sold the ticket--how would people know the name of the person who bought the winning ticket out of the hundreds of customers who bought tickets at that store?

Because people are going to knock down doors like in The Purge until they find the ticket...duh

The premise of this thread is stupid.

Are you claiming the ticket tonight at 10 P.M. when the lottery office is closed? Good luck hanging out in downtown New Orleans until first light with ur ticket in hand.

That's the point, you're fair game until you turn in the ticket.

Is Michael Myers gunning for my ticket? How will they know I have it?

Create an LLC and put the LLC's name on the ticket. Have the LLC's lawyer pick up the dough.

There are over 300 million ticket combinations. If you’re a billionaire, you could potentially make hundreds of millions by just buying every number combo possible, provided nobody else wins.

State lottery sites are releasing area of sale for winners within hours of the drawing. They can obviously pinpoint that down even further if they wanted to do so.

With a billion dollars on the line the fact that people are brushing it off as, would never happen, could never happen is pretty mind boggling

At $2 per ticket that would cost more than you would clear after taxes.

Buying more tickets might not do much. Not sure what the number is, but with this many people buying tickets, I would think you would have to spend a significant amount of money to even just slightly increase your odds of winning.

Unless you live in a one horse town where a robber has to knock on 5 houses to find the winner, I don't think there are going to be people randomly breaking into houses looking for a ticket.

Plus, there's these things called automobiles. They're pretty cool as they allow you to travel multiple miles per day. With one of these you can drive to a store miles away to buy a ticket. Even a criminal will realize this greatly increases the odds that the winner is within range of the store to make their risk of breaking into random houses worth it.

Again, your premise is dumb if you would think even just a little logically.

First thing I'd do is go straight to the bank in the morning and put the ticket in the safe deposit box.

Dude, that's JUST what a winner would do. The criminals are going to be posted up at all the banks just mugging everyone foolish enough to go to a bank the next morning. It's a billion dollars on the line. You can't just brush that off! They want that ticket!

And tonight's winning ticket was purchased in...Dallas, Texas.

I hope your prospective gang of thieves have an atomic warhead to threaten the citizens with.

GD you're right. The winner will be not be safe anywhere and RIP to the poor innocent souls that are randomly murdered while there is havoc in the town that the ticket is sold.
