Bay boats were already high AF a few years ago and COVID seems to have made them all jump $20-40K. Seems like 8 year notes are the norm now on boats so I could see suckers going for a 20 year note.

We just bought early this year and got less boat for the same money as we could have a year prior

Yea, everything went up and boat have gone crazy. I have a friend who owns a dealership and have bought 10 boats from him over the years so Im not paying what others are but they are still high

A 22' bay boat is at $100,000. These days, and yes, people are buying them everyday.

Given the rise in boating accidents each year, seems like making it easier for anyone to just get a boat is the wrong move

Oh frick off.

If that's the answer, then start with automobiles.

I find it more disturbing that a bass boat is over $100K.

Mrs. H2O Tiger wants to upgrade ours once we have kids. Hopefully prices start to somewhat normalize but I know for a fact we won't be buying a new one regardless

They don't have to be. Most people are more interested in looking like they can fish rather than being able to actually fish.

Go take a drive down to the end of the road. The amount of boats in the deep 6 figures is unreal.

I have had a bunch of new boats over the years. Mine now is a 2023, 25' bay boat with 300hp.

The big reason for the higher prices are all the devices and their pricing increases. Trolling motors that everyone "wants" are 5-5K each. Electronics are out of control. I get a very good deal on my Lowrance/Simrad stuff but the two 12" units I have cost almost 4K each. Throw in a couple power poles that cost 5 grand and you will start to see how it all adds up. Outboards are so much now it is ridiculous. You can basically multiple a grand for every hoursepower to get you close to the retail. A 300hp is around 30K depending on which brand you buy. Stereo systems are stupid expensive.

Then the cost of the boats and their materials are out of sight. Plus boats these days are so much more complicated and full of standard features.

They are ridiculously high. I ran bass boats for almost 35 years. They are more expensive for what you get than anything and the market is seeing that. The amount of new boats being bought is about 25% of what it was just a few years back,

High end boats are still being bought by people who can afford them. The 25' Bay boat I have now is the most expensive boat I have ever owned. I will keep it about 2 more years then sell it and Im looking at a 27' with twin 300's on it . I just hope one of you can afford to buy mine for what I need to get for it.

I just bought another bass boat a lot smaller.
The boat and motor around $55k for 18ft with 175 hp.

The days of 21 ft champion with 175 for $27k are gone.

What gets you and adds up fast.
Power poles
Electronics
Misc little items that you don’t pay attention to that adds up.

So the $102.000 boat will cost you 243,813.60.
Wow.

The new American Way, I don't care the cost, I want gratification now! Tear it up, file bankruptcy, start over.
