He's not insane, he just has a conclusion drawn in his mind and is trying to make up a version of events to prove his pre-made conclusion.

After that, if the initial defensive individual pursues, they are now the aggressor, and I can definitely see that changing the situation legally.
But, that isn’t what happened here at all.
Rittenhouse was on the defense the entire time, including the situation involving Grosskreutz, as he even said in court under oath.
“Kyle did not shoot until you advanced on him with your gun raised, correct?”
Grosskreutz: “Yes”
