I'd go to the FQ to eat at a restaurant I like at night, but I'd Uber to the restaurant and Uber from the restaurant. I would not walk around the FQ at night and probably not even during the day with the exception of maybe Jackson Square. I enjoy going there during the day.

Gone are the days of hanging out in FQ at night. I really don't want to be around Bourbon St during the day either.

When I lived there, we went to the FQ often taking out of town friends there etc... Those days are gone and there are other places to go.

They said they are getting the state police to come down and help patrol the area. It's needed.

They should have never left. It will be nice to have them back.

Canal St. and the French Quarter have traditionally been some of the main attractions in New Orleans. When you have to say visit other spots instead, that's a big problem

It's not just the rough crowd all over. The pan handlers are OUT OF CONTROL.

I know shitloads of friends, family and customers that come to New Orleans weekly and every weekend and never step foot in the Quarter. Too many better options than to get mixed up in that trash down there.

Want to tell me where most tourists come to visit in NOLA? That's like saying the Strip isn't the most visited place in Vegas. Don't be ridiculous.

Went down last mth, when it opened up a bit, just see what was what, and, as noted, the hood rats infested the whole area. Talked briefly to a NOPD old timer, and he said that he like most of the older force, was just waiting for the clock to run out for his pension. Compared to the "old days, they were not enforcing anything but the worst of the worst; due to the lack of support from City Hall". And "the punks know that".

Yeah, I feel like people who are at least pretty familiar with Nola are the ones going Uptown or on Frenchman Street or wherever. 90% of tourists are probably going to the quarter.

You’re comparing the strip in Vegas to bourbon st?

Besides renting a helicopter and flying over Lake Meade, the Hoover Dam and into the Grand Canyon. What else is there to do?

Ah. I mean yea the place has a shite load of problems.

FQ is probably okay during the day, but it’s certainly a huge issue at night. Tourists unfortunately may not know that.

Must explain why you think a white guy from LA doesn't interact with dozens of black people on a daily basis

So you knew what to expect and didn’t run to the OT to start a thread acting all surprised at what you saw.
