Yet another “STAY AWAY FROM NOLA” thread

down in the quarter last night. We are very reasonable people and love NoLa.
it is infested with hood rats. Worst than ever and we grew up near NoLa and visit fairly regularly. Extremely unnerving experience.
On top, not shockingly, the NOPD are in rare dickhead form. I mean baaaaddddd.
Folks, I love the city. Always have. It’s turned south in an alarming way. Sadly, we are done visiting until something truly happens.

Stay away from the FQ has been good advice for years. Lots of other areas you could try.
Also, saw someone say the State Police are coming back, so that should help.

I am also in Nola and I made my first trip to Bourbon in years Friday night. It's terrible. Utterly terrible.
Been here a few times during Covid and this is the first time when there was life around the city. For the city, that was something positive.

Some guy turned me on to some cheap life insurance, so I’ll be ok when I visit next weekend.

I'm with OP, though, it has gotten worse since 1/1/2020.
The people living there don't perceive it as much. It's slippery slope boiling-the-gay-frog theory.

The people here realize the situation has become worse. They are the ones experiencing the crime.
I just don't think most who love here are willing to write off the city.

What does that mean?
And yeah, stay away from from the quarter has been discussed. You went looking for a bad experience and you got what you were looking for.

The French Quarter is not “the city” moron.
You could have visited a shitload of places and never even have to have crossed Canal St.
But

You seem to know everything

It's the dilemma faced by potential refugees everywhere.
And once you decide to be a refugee, you have to ask yourself if Carriere (or wherever) is far enough.

You must not pay attention much. I’m very aware of reality.
That’s why I haven’t been to the Quarter since the Natty in January of 2020

It’s all that trash from Lake Charles that never left

As long as shite brained liberals run that city and over breeding continues , it will be a worse and worse. It is like Haiti after the French turned it over to the Haitians.

The place is a complete shithole. He doesn't really need to know more. It was once a world class tourist destination. Now it isn't.

Pretty much when it started to really get bad.

So Orleans Parish itself stands out as good if you subtract the French Quarter?

Honestly, even with the advice over the years, we’ve had great experiences down there.
Last night was sad.
And, yes, there are other destinations, but the fact is the FQ is the primary (sometimes only) reason people visit the city. That’s a problem.
