One of my trashy relatives has two pit bulls - the female just had a litter of puppies so now they're all excited to sell them and get "breeding rights" and shite.
Anyway - a few weeks ago the male bulldozed through a wooden fence and bit the neighbor. My relative keeps saying "it was a playful bite not a bite to harm".. anyway the court said that he could either inform his insurance company that he has the dog and put up a few signs OR put the dog down. The guy loved the dog so much that he chose to just put it down.
For context, guy has calf tattoos.. pit bull ownership checks out.

Pit population is really getting out of control. I see more of them now then ever. They’re fricking everywhere. Even in middle class areas, although hoodish areas are where they seem to be an essential to every yard tied up to a tree.

At one time I had a pair of pits from 2 different breeders that bred dogs with excellent bloodlines and I let them mate. The female dropped a litter of 16 pups overnight and all of them lived even though it got sketchy for one who was the runt of the litter.
The sire and dam were registered with the UKC and both Purple Ribbon Bred and when I went to register the litter they sent me a letter asking for more conformation and specifics since it was a high birth rate.
At the time all I could do was snap a few photos of the mother with the pups in the large box I built for the pups to stay enclosed in and I finally got the paperwork on the litter.
21 pups is an insane number for a pit to have.

I agree. My next door neighbor is a vet and she has one that she can't find a home for and lives with her.
Both my neighbors behind me each have a pit, and I live near a neighborhood park that is frequented by at least 3-4 more pit owners almost every day for them to run around and get some exercise.
I live in an upper middle class neighborhood, so like you said, it's not just the "hood" where they are often seen.
I'm sure many of these folks don't let their Homeowner's Insurance Co. know they have pits or their premiums would be much higher, if not dropped entirely by the company.

I say we turn then in to their insurance companies. Nobody wants one of those child murdering bastards in their neighborhood
