The high pressure system that is currently parked over Texas is beginning to weaken as evidenced by the short shower that we had in the BR area yesterday afternoon.

Hopefully it holds out until mid September

first time ever the f'in red ants keep trying to get in my house. Other than dog food in a bowl we dont leave food out. I sprayed the shite out of the house yesterday. Hopefully that fixes the little bastards.
Get some of the liquid bait poison, not the kind in the little containers, but in a bottle. Put it out, on a small piece of cardboard around any lines you see or where you're thinking they're coming in. Rebait it whenever it runs out. It works.
I'm not sure what y'all call a red ant, is it the same as a fire ant? If so, buy some of that stinking arse white powder that comes in a can. Treat the beds with it. That's always knocked them down for me.

Should we expect a Cat 5 for Christmas?

I’m game for a low grade tropical storm just so we can get some rain.
Tropical storms/Cat 1 storms are great. They churn the Gulf up and cool it down.

Won't happen, anything that hits the Gulf will explode.
Went offshore this past weekend and the water out the sea-chest that we were using to wash our hands and clean the deck was the same temp as bath water.

There is low key conflict going on with forecasters this season. There are those who seem to almost overvalue SSTs. They seem to feel it will trump everything else going against development. Others, perhaps with a cautious eye on the recent past, seem to value the whole picture more than just the one part (SSTs).
That's the problem summed up. There's a high chance that some of them stack one bust after another with this season's forecast. If that happens, they 100% should have learned. Last season was almost a flipped script from this season. Last year the biggest missing ingredient was adequate SSTs. Pretty much everything else favored an active, above average season. The opposite is true this season.
It is going to be interesting watching the forecast gambles play out. Some of them certainly have a chance to do significant damage to some reputations, especially after last year's miss.

El Nino typically leaves extra shear over the Gulf.
Though we certainly dont one to find one of those low shear windows.

We're cruisin' for a bruisin'. When the heat dome finally relents and the Gulf opens back up, in will march a parade of storms that will dwarf last years' Ian, and cause catastrophic misery.
El Niño will save us

Right now there is such a massive amount of shear that nothing is going to hold together. When the shear breaks down, we're fricked.

Is it worse than the people who regularly start this thread just to seek out that exact response?
