I bought a small dog for a girl I was dating a while back. He became my best bud and when I broke up with the girl I told her I was keeping the dog. She didn't put up a fight because she knew he liked me more than her. I never thought I would care for small dogs until I got one.

I have a dachshund/chihuahua mix and she barks maybe twice a week. And that's only when she's excited about going outside.

Meh. I've had labs, GS, Bloodhounds, rescues of all sizes and breeds. But nothing has brought me as much joy as my FBD. She's not a barker tho. Just an absolute awesome dog.

Not all small dogs are yappy....pugs are mostly quiet bark wise.

They just breathe loudly

I grew up first with dobermans back in the 70s then later my folks had rotties. Now they have chihuahuas. They do like to bark at any sound but quit once they see me. Small dogs ok but I've always loved my large breeds.

I like a small dog. Daughter wanted one, I lost the battle. She went off to college and a little male Yorkie became my best buddy. He seldom barked. Died a year ago

The breeder has a new litter

Will probably drop another $1800 on another one

GF has what I consider a "yappy dog". Miniature schnauzer weighing less than 15lbs. She barks when you first walk in the door, but then simmers down. Her most annoying thing is that she grumbles, but my boys do it too. Almost like they're pissed off and trying to be quiet.

Honestly, I think small dogs would be so much better if they weren't always owned by women. Women want dogs to be toys, not animals. Usually the dog furiously hates anyone else, and is just overall not really a dog but a moving piece of cloth to pet and look at. Women are awful with dogs 9/10 times.

Call me misogynistic or w/e, but I've seen women ruin labs, and other dogs that are normally fricking great and love people.

They're not really yappy--it's all in how you raise 'em

I have a miniature poodle that weighs about 13 pounds. I also have 3 pit mixes one of which was rescued from a fighting group. Guess which of the 4 dogs is the alpha bitch??
That poodle is a fricking bad arse - the other dogs do not mess with her. Remember, it's not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog that matters...

She is the only small dog I have ever owned and dang I love this dog. Found her right after Katrina - I think she probably got lost from some of the many refugees that were in the area.

I have a sheltie that barks her head off, but she is very well disciplined and is my favorite dog I have ever encountered.

I got one because I love my wife. What can I say, she gives good head.
