Sorry to hear it. Big Al (chihuahua) is 15, and one evil dog. Thinks my wife hung the moon though.

Waited ten years for my son in law to drop his guard. Wagged his tail, let him pet him, then snuck up behind him and latched on to his ankle. Drew blood.

Good dog!

So sorry for your loss.

I have three - my oldest is coming up on 16, the gray has taken over, and he doesn't see, hear or get around like he used to . So that day is coming, and I've thought about how much it will suck to lose him - and I hope I'll think of it this way: when the pain gets hard to bear - ask yourself: "Was it all worth it? Would you do it all over again?". And when you answer yes, take a little bit of comfort out of the fact that he was your very best friend, and he gave you everything he had. And smile.

Good Luck and God Bless.

What breed is the one at the top of the pic?

She's a rescue mutt... 60ish pounds, looks like a chocolate lab / german pointer mix with some terrier as well.

This one is about to turn 10 and I'm already dreading the day I have to say goodbye. It's going to be a harshly unhappy day for sure

So sorry....really no words to express the sadness of losing a pet.

Ours is not much longer for this earth. Dreading the day.

So sorry for your loss man. It really is like losing a member of the family. We had to unexpectedly put our beagle to sleep in July and I haven’t cried that much since my grandmother passed

Had to put our 16 year old chihuahua to sleep on 8/17. Tomorrow it’ll be 3 weeks. I shed more tears than I ever recall from losing a family member or friend. It’s especially hard to put a pet to sleep, even when it’s obvious they’re suffering and there’s no hope. It’s like, can’t we give it one more chance?
Just know you’re not alone. Glad you shared.

Very sorry to hear it, friend. I know how painful that is.

Be strong for those around you, and just know you did right by your dog. Sounds like you were both winners.

My 9 year old English Bulldog passed away on Labor Day two years ago. I still think about him every other day at least, and usually it is more painful than fond remembrance. I hope you can move on better than me. I don't think I will ever be able to enjoy labor day again.

Oh man. That's a tough year. Likewise here, my most sincere condolences.

It hurts all the way down to my stomach when I hear of folks having to euthanize their old friend.

Dogs are the best.
