It will be hard to let her go. Last year, she came to me as my brother who is in the Air Force was moving to South Korea to watch for a year, that has now turned to a second year.

She is probably the most loyal dog I have ever had. It will be hard to give her back next year. She is a 6 year old German Shepherd, and constantly likes to lick me and wake me up at odd hours for a treat or to go outside. I always wanted a large dog, so to heaven’s fate I got one last year.

Heart goes out to ya. Have had to do a few times over all these years and has never gotten any easier.

When the time is right for you, get another four-legged buddy and give em a home.

You never replace the one who’s moved on but simply giving another an opportunity to love you unconditionally and be happy to see you no matter what kinda day you had.

Lots of good dogs out there never have a chance to have a good home. I’m glad yours did.

Sorry for your loss and hang in there.

Feel your pain.

Im afraid my dog has a tumor and is only 4 years young. He’s having increasingly frequent seizures and the meds the vet gave me help to an extent but seems like he’s getting worse. Seeing a specialist tomorrow and Im very nervous to say the least.

Best pet ive had and is very sad to think that he may not be around this time next month or so. Second dog in a row that may pass at a young age due to freakish happenings. This is rough.

Unconditional love from and to those pups. It is other worldly. Bless that sweet baby and to you just cherish the memories...and lessons he taught you.

My old boy cannot see. He cannot hear. He has been diabetic for about six years. He had to have his gall bladder removed a few months back. He is having trouble holding his pee before he makes it to the door. He does not give a frick.

When he crosses the Rainbow Bridge, no matter where you are in the world, if you listen intently enough, you will probably be able to hear me cry.

LewDawg - your chocolate Lab is the spitting image of the chocolate lab we lost four years ago unexpectedly (tumor). Got a black Lab now, and he's awesome, but I miss ole Thibodaux to this day.

OP - sorry for your loss, and I apologize for the brief hijack of your thread.

I know that time is coming for my family to say goodbye to our first dog. He’s old but still eats. They say you’ll know when it’s time, I don’t think I will know. He eats like a king but is losing weight and my wife swears he has dog dementia.

My daughter fed our new dog some raisins yesterday. I stayed up almost all night keeping an eye on him. Looks like it didn't affect him, thank God.

Thanks. Looks like a twin to one I had when I was a wee lad. Mixed breed that was one hell of a squirrel dog.
