Nope. I'll never do one of those kits. I don't want to take the chance of finding out that I'm a serial killer.

My wife learned she’s 8% black.

She was surprised. I was not.

She’s always had lots of head, hands, and hip movements going on when verbally tearing into my arse, and she’s late for everything.

The side I thought was german I can't trace very far back... But they were jewish. The side I thought was French... Are Lombards (old germanic war tribes) Only matching the women, I can follow the line back well over a millenia.

The funny part is the things that have stuck around genetically for that long.

There's a portrait that I found of either a king or duke... And the guy legitimately could be my twin. There's a society of Lombards who meet, and the vast majority of the males, no matter their race, all have a similar jaw line, heavily muscled brow , arms slightly too long, and have a disproportionately broad chest in relation to their height.

Not sure which ancestor contributed those genes... But they were strong

Not me, but three of my wife's nieces got a big surprise from 23 and Me. My wife's sister and BIL are deceased, and the nieces are all in their 60s. The results of their DNA tests showed the three girls were not sisters but rather were half-sisters, and each of the three had a different father.

True story. About six months ago a guy reached out to me saying he was IDd on Ancestry.com as my maternal first cousin. Said he was looking for his dad. I knew that it had to be my black sheep Uncle Mike if the info was legit. Long story short he sent pics, and I knew right away he was my cousin. My uncle said he knew the dude’s mom, but had no memory of hooking up with her (he was on drugs and not living the best life). He agreed to a DNA test which confirmed he’s the father. Crazy. Our family welcomed the kid and his wife and kids with open arms. Unbelievable.

Sperm donor baby.didnt know most of my life but made sense after finding out. I have 9 half siblings..3 half brothers and 6 half sisters. Share a mom with two of them.

Also find out i was 5% ashkenaizi jew...from my mom's side. Which came from my pawpaw who was for sure German and now we know also a Jew.

When my mawmaw found out she started laughing real hard. She thought my pawpaw was a penny pincher because he grew up poor in the lower 9th ward. Come to find out it was because he was a quarter Jew

My mawmaw is a very old school Southern slightly racist lady bless her heart

That’s wild.

Have you had any contact with your half siblings?

Oh yeah. Even talk with my bio dad

I told all them we need to make a book one day. It's an interesting real life experiment into genetics vs the way you are raised.

We all turned out very similar to one another even when it came to jobs. However, I turned out to be born in the only normal household (with exception to my 3 half brothers and one half sister). The ones that weren't raised with my mom or my bio dad all wound up in households where they somehow all hated their dad minus one of them (and thats debateable)

ETA: according to the donor office in Metairie we could also have up to 6 more half siblings floating around out there. 2 of us are from LA, two from the pacific NW, two from upstate New York. Two from the Midwest.

My mom and MIL have found out about new half siblings. The MIL one was particularly odd because her mom was apparently just the town whore while she was married.

I understand people not wanting to volunteer their dna. Unfortunately for all of us it does not matter as familial DNA gives them everything they need. They can zero in on some distant relative who's DNA is on file and find you.

Your families DNA is on file which means that yours might as well be. Anyone going on probation/parole is now required to submit DNA along with people sending it in for ancestry. One distant relative in the justice system or a relative being giddy to find out their history is all it takes.

It's crazy how many are finding out about rampant infidelity in their families history.
