Yea the recall that was fixed is actually what caused the issue

I guess their method of testing the fix was just to put it out there and see if the customers complain or crash?

Or the dealer screwed up. I’m going with that one.

whats the point of replicating?

If it does something exactly what the customer was saying it did, what was gained by the replication?

What you are describing happened doesn't sound the same as what you say is the recall. Shifting into park and killing the engine is two different things.

Seeing how it happened, Chad. What the computer was sensing when it occurred.

You replicated it but they couldn’t?

I just read the recall. Here is the whole document:

LINK

I did not see anything that is related to turning the engine off and nothing done in the recall would affect the engine driving down the road.

This doesn't make sense to me. Exactly, step by step, what did you do to duplicate the engine turning off cause it is not in that recall.

OEM's will not let you do a repair unless and until the dealer's tech can duplicate the problem. What would they change? Would you want them to start hanging parts?

They probably spent some time driving it and talking to Chrysler tech hotline and were told "That doesn't make sense, not related."

they can't do that when it already happened? Do they have something else plugged in at the time of replication trying to figure it out?

i would tell them to "undo" whatever they did to add that feature to your truck and live without it.

if they cant figure ut it was a bad seat sensor or connection to it that caused the issue tell them i know what the problem is and i have never even seen your truck

its common frickin sense what the problem is

now maybe you cause the problem if you lifted your arse up off the seat to reach for something on the floor or on the back seat to cause it to trip, but if it caused a problem then just get it removed or disabled

So if you kept rolling, apparently it did not shift into park

There’s probably something else wrong with your truck, and being a Ram it could be one of roughly 100k things

That's the Chekov recall.

The young guy who was playing Chekov in the new Star Trek movies was crushed by his vehicle when he got out to check his mail.

A moving car doesn’t just stop if you throw it in park.

Not ones with electronically controlled transmissions anyway. Try it with a car built before 2000 or so.

You’re telling me it comes to a dead stop from 80 MPH?

And I’m not trying it.

Good god no. I just meant that newer cars won't even let it get into those gears.

Mythbusters did a video about putting an 90s Crown Vic in revers and park at 50. It took a long time for it to stop.

Not the same, but my car is push start and I’ve pushed it while driving and it didn’t shut off. I tried to show my wife one time after that. We were going like 20 and it shut off.

I had to stop on the road, put it in park, and restart.
