Wwyd: truck recall edition

2 weeks ago I had a safety recall that would essentially shift my truck into park if it sensed it wasnt in park and there was no one in the truck. Great feature so I got it done...so I thought. Driving home after work one day, it sensed no one was in the truck and shot the engine off going 80 on i12. Luckily it didn't lock up the brakes or anything and just made me coast but still was pretty scary considering. I bring to dealership and they've had it for about a week. Said they can't figure it out or recreate it. Said I need to come pick up my truck or I would have to start paying for the rental. What would you do?

What kind of truck so I know not to buy one?

Why isn’t the dealership able to fix the problem if the recall was issued? I’m confused

Shouldn’t the safety recall from the manufacturer tell them where to find the problem?

It's a 2017 Ram. They did the recall. The safety recall glitched per say and threw the safety feature into action

Well is it an actual recall?
How many miles?
How long have you owned it?

Why would they need to recreate it if there is a recall out? Tell them to fix your shite.

This happened after they did the recall work?

Voluntary or from the NHTSA?

So you are saying the recall was for something different, they fixed the recall by adding this new safety feature, and now the new safety feature is the problem?

A little over a year. Right over 14k miles. And yea it was after the recall was done

Your OP is not clear on the fact that the recall was done and what the recall actually fixed.

Yea the recall that was fixed is actually what caused the issue

I had a truck that I had a brake recall done and now the cruise won't shut off with the brakes.

EcoDiesel?
I know someone who knew someone with a ram that sounds like was having similar problem only that I think he had no brakes or anything when it shut down. Dealership had it and it caught fire at dealership. Probably best for the truck owner!

How do you know that the work done for the recall caused your truck to die? I usually don't believe in coincidences but what evidence is there?

I tested the feature after it got done and the same thing it did when I tested is what happened on the interstate.

I have never heard of this feature. Not saying you are wrong, but could you possibly be misunderstanding the 17V821000 BTSI switch recall?

You replicated it but they couldn’t?
