Hypothetically, wwyd if you received a package that had two shipping labels on the outside, one addressed to you and one addressed to someone else (in another state). The label addressed to you was much larger and overpowered the other label. The package you were anticipating ($25 item) from the retailer (walmart) is not in the box, but instead a more expensive item (apprx $400). The shipping packet enclosed has the name and address of the person it was supposed to be sent to.

Dumb question. Grow a beard, and send it to the right person.

Call and complain that you never got the package you ordered.

Pretend like the more expensive item never showed at your place.

Keep both

Even if the shipping label had his name on it?

walmart

I dislike them intensely. Their business practices are abhorrent. Their stores are dirty and disorganized.

I would return the item immediately.

Contact the sender and inform them. Let them handle it as much as possible. Keeping it is pretty close to stealing. It is knowingly keeping goods that don't belong to you.

It is much more than "pretty close" to stealing. It is blatantly stealing.

Steal - take (another person's property), without permission or legal right, without intending to return it.

This is a litle different, but I have a pal who ordered a TV from them online last year. Got it, everything was fine. Next day, he receives another one, basically duplicate order that he didn't request or pay for.

He called them and told them, basically left the ball in their court to fix the problem, send a UPS guy or whatever. They never did. He now has 2 tvs.

Why ask, you know you're keeping it.

Except he didn't take anything. They sent it to him in a box with his name on it. Accepting and taking are 2 different things.

What is happening does not fit that definition strictly. It is not taking anything. It is not returning what was given to you. It's still wrong, but it is a little different.
